I had it removed last May, so it’s almost been a full year.. haha Back then I was really anxious too, so I searched for nose implant removal reviews every day and called around to clinics. But even when I was searching hard, most of the reviews were always from 1 week, 2 weeks, or 1 month after removal. I don’t think I saw many 1-year or 2-year reviews, so I’m writing this. I had nasal silicone + nasal tip cartilage removed, and the reasons for removal were thinning skin at the nasal tip + the cartilage and nasal silicone showing through + slight pain and a sensation of heat + my nose constantly turning red. Especially because I had some pain and heat sensation, I thought it was inflammation and removed it quickly, but when they actually opened my nose, the doctor said it wasn’t inflammation.. But I do think that if I had left it in, blood circulation probably wouldn’t have been good and it would eventually have become inflamed. And since they said the alar cartilage on the left side of my nose was completely crushed, I absolutely don’t regret removing it quickly..
Things I feel now that it’s been a year since removal:
1. The bridge line definitely takes about 3-4 months to show its final look. At first after removal, I still had more of a nasal bridge than I expected, so I was like, huh?? But around 4 months, it all disappeared.. haha I have no thoughts of revision surgery at all because I went through so much because of nose surgery, but I’m writing this because I think many people here may be curious about this part.
2. What determines whether the nose looks bulky is scar tissue. In my case, the previous clinic mishandled my nasal tip a bit, so I had a lot of scar tissue at the tip. So even now, my nasal tip is a bit bulky. I think it would be okay if you don’t develop a lot of scar tissue like I did, but I only truly realized this around the 1-year mark, so I wrote it down.
3. A contracture phase does not necessarily happen to everyone. After removal, I heard a contracture phase would come, so I was seriously scared and trembling while preparing tape and a massager to use during that period and waiting for it..? But I passed through without really feeling any contracture phase. I never felt like my nose had lifted either. So I really think this depends on the person. +) Now that I think about it, I asked the clinic and got one extra month’s worth of anti-contracture medication, so I took it for almost 2 months? I’m writing this because I wonder if that had an effect.
4. The aesthetics of the clinic matter a lot more than expected even for nose removal. Honestly, I thought the shape after removal would simply depend on the condition of my own nose, so I didn’t really pay attention to the clinic’s nose aesthetics. But looking at my nose after removal, I think it follows that clinic’s aesthetic more than expected. So I recommend looking carefully at the before-and-after removal photos on that clinic’s website before going. My original nose was a straight nose, but now it has become a slightly gentle upturned curve.
5. It hurts and swells a lot more than expected. I do think this may also vary by person, but maybe because the alar cartilage on my left side was truly completely crushed, for about 3 days after surgery, the left nasal tip hurt so much that I couldn’t sleep well.. And the swelling was really severe too. My forehead swelled so much that I even wondered if it was a blood collection, like some kind of headbutting dinosaur, but it wasn’t. It was just really badly swollen....
6. The nose swells easily. Originally, when I got swollen, it was usually my cheeks or lips that swelled, but after nose removal, when I wake up, my nose is swollen. But I think this is determined less by the removal itself and more by how much manipulation was done to my nose. I think it’s because my nose was opened three times.
When I searched for removal reviews before, I don’t think people talked in much detail about the shape, so I wrote it out in detail. If you’re curious about anything else besides this, please ask!
