Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

10 months after double jaw surgery, my facial shape has become really natural and the lines look smoother haha

It has already been 10 months since my double jaw surgery haha. When I first had the surgery, I kept wondering when I would start looking natural, but time really has passed quickly! Now my facial shape has become much more natural, and I can see that the overall lines are settling in more smoothly, so I feel satisfied every time I look in the mirror these days.^^

Since I was young, my underbite was a huge complex for me. My face was also on the long side, so during school I got teased a lot with the nickname "jaw girl," and after that I really hated taking photos I had so little confidence in my appearance that I barely had one or two selfies on my phone. I had been thinking about double jaw surgery for a long time, but the financial burden was big, and I had seen many bad cases after surgery on the internet and in the news, so I was scared too. I kept worrying about it, and before I knew it, I was already in my 30s.

Then I started thinking that if I kept living like this, I would probably carry stress about my appearance and self-esteem issues even as I got older, and that made me want to be brave for myself before it was too late, so I decided to go ahead with the surgery!

I found the hospital through a recommendation on the Cafe site and then looked up a lot of YouTube and Instagram content. I checked several hospitals, but after seeing Dr. Shin Hee-jin explain the surgery in such detailed and professional way on YouTube, I felt a lot of trust. haha In particular, the facial shape and aesthetic sense the doctor pursues were similar to the style I had always liked, which drew me in even more. After the consultation, I decided on [Clinic A] without any more hesitation!

Right after surgery, there was a lot of swelling and it was uncomfortable to open my mouth, so I worried a lot, but as time passed, things really improved one by one. Around the 1-month mark, I still had a lot of swelling under the chin and a double chin, but people around me kept saying I looked prettier and younger, which felt amazing haha. Especially before, people often said my expression looked a little sharp, but after surgery I heard much more that I look soft and kind, and I really liked that part!

And now that it has been 10 months, it definitely feels different from the beginning. It is not just that the swelling went down; the facial shape itself has been settling in more naturally, and the overall lines seem much smoother~^^ That is true from the front, but especially from the side and along the jawline, it feels much more natural. I am also still continuing orthodontic treatment, and I can feel my facial shape changing little by little as I do that. Since I have also been dieting, the fat left under my chin and in my face has also come off, and the lines seem to have been cleaned up even more haha. In the past, I paid a lot of attention to angles when taking photos because of my jawline and face shape, but these days I just take them casually, which feels like a big change!

Most of all, I now live my daily life almost forgetting that I even had double jaw surgery. I have almost no discomfort. Eating is not very difficult, and the numbness and tingling I had have mostly returned to normal, so I am living as comfortably as before. Right after surgery, I wondered when recovery would ever end, but after about 10 months, I can really feel that it has become much more natural haha.

The reactions from people around me are still very good! I often hear things like "You really look younger," "Your impression has become much softer," and "Your face has become naturally pretty," and every time I hear that, I think I made the right decision to have the surgery haha. In the past, I hated even the idea of my face appearing in photos, but now taking photos is not as stressful as before, and sometimes I even ask people to take photos of me first

Looking back now at the 10-month point, I think the most satisfying part is not simply that my jaw moved back, but that my overall impression changed naturally. Before, I had a sharp and strong look, but now I feel like there is a much softer and more relaxed atmosphere, which I personally really like!

I am still undergoing orthodontic treatment and my facial lines are still settling little by little, so I am looking forward to seeing what I will look like at the 1-year mark haha. At first it was a surgery I worried about for a really long time, but now that I have passed the 10-month point, I truly think I made the brave decision and it was the right one!!

If you are someone like me who has been stressed for a long time because of an underbite or a long face and is considering double jaw surgery, I hope you take enough time to research and choose a hospital that suits you well. I have been very satisfied with my recovery so far, and especially if you want a natural and soft facial shape, I would recommend [Clinic A] and Dr. Shin Hee-jin haha
