Before <before revision surgery> After <after revision surgery> Hello I had my cosmetic nose surgery done together with rhinitis surgery during my first operation, and had it removed after 2 years. 4 mm silicone + septal cartilage (extension support graft, nasal tip)
#Reason I decided to remove it I had been doing fine, but from some point, the tip of my nose started looking white and translucent, like it was filled with water? I didn’t even know this could be a side effect.. Because my skin was thin, as time passed it felt more pointed to the touch, and I was in a situation where dermis would need to be added. There was no inflammation, but it was because of my anxiety about the silicone, like it was a ticking time bomb.
I went to consultations at several places, and since I wanted to get away from the side effects more than focus on the shape, I decided on a removal clinic.
#Surgery details Removal of silicone, septal cartilage, and capsule (open approach) Because too much septal cartilage had been harvested at the previous ENT clinic, I had a slight saddle nose, so septal cartilage was added onto the nasal bridge. They also said that in my situation, if the septal support graft was completely removed, it could collapse, so part of it was left in.
#Review after splint removal For 3 days, I did warm/cold compresses and rested well, then went to get the splint removed.. The saddle nose I was worried about and the skin condition at the nasal tip were not a major issue. But what was shocking was seeing myself looking like an Avatar character. I knew I needed to mentally prepare myself for how it would look after total removal and splint removal, but when I saw my wide, flattened, clay-like nasal bridge, I almost cried. Still, they said that as the swelling goes down, the nasal bridge will become slimmer.. so I’m trying to focus only on that and work hard on swelling care (I can’t live like thisㅠ) I’d appreciate it if you could share good tips for swelling care haha
