Starting about a year ago, contracture began to develop. I did feel like my nose was getting lower, but I didn’t want to touch my nose anymore, so I just lived with it. There was pressure and my nose was hard, but I thought that was natural since implants were inside. Looking back now, I realize I had signs of inflammation, but I brushed it off thinking it was normal... I should have gone to the hospital right away then ㅠ This time, after hearing my mom say that my nose seemed to be turning upward, I looked and saw that it definitely was. I didn’t want to go back to the clinic where I had my first two surgeries, so I booked a consultation at a hospital known for revision rhinoplasty. The director looked at my nose and said it was typical contracture caused by inflammation and that I needed to remove the implants quickly. I was scared, but I paid the deposit, scheduled a date, and left. Until the day of surgery, I searched a lot about nasal implant removal surgery, and on the day of surgery I met the director and asked everything. Whether the capsule would be left, whether cartilage repositioning would be done, why the ear cartilage would be left while only the implants were removed, and so on. The director seemed a little annoyed and said he was not doing revision surgery, only removal. In the end, the capsule was left, the ear cartilage was left, and literally only the silicone and Medpor were removed. It was done open. The surgery took less than an hour under sedation anesthesia, and after the surgery they showed me the Medpor and silicone. It has now been 8 days since surgery and 3 days since stitch removal. The skin of my nose overall has become softer than before, and when I gently touch it, I think I can make a pig nose. When I press my nose it goes in, but the nasal tip is still hard, so when I pull the nasal ala forward it doesn’t move. They say a contracted nose won’t come down unless you have revision surgery, but I really don’t want revision surgery, so for now I’m going to try to do as much as I can with massage. After a few months, this hard nasal tip should get at least a little better, right? ㅠㅠㅠ
One thing I regret is that even though I had paid the deposit, I wish I had gone to one or two more consultations. I found out about this community after the removal, came in and looked up reviews, and saw reviews from people who had removal plus cartilage repositioning, or even revision surgery using ear cartilage at the same time. (I don’t want any cartilage grafting other than ear cartilage ㅠ) The director who operated on me said that touching the cartilage could make things worse, and that he would not create a shape, only remove the implants. He also charged only the exact removal fee. Still, if it had been possible by paying more, I think it would have been nice to use the ear cartilage left inside and lower the nasal tip just a little. I keep thinking that if I had consulted other directors, at least one of them might have suggested this kind of surgical method... Whether you’re planning removal or surgery, I really hope you get consultations at several places. I hope my nose comes down even a little ㅠㅠ
