After vaguely thinking that I wanted to remove my nasal silicone implant, I joined a community and got a lot of information, so I’m posting my review too!
It has been about a week since I had a non-open complete removal and cartilage repositioning on my nose, which had hump reduction and silicone + ear cartilage 8 years ago :) The top two photos are before surgery / the bottom two are photos I took today after surgery~!
For a few years, the silicone had looked crooked and like one side was about to protrude(?), and then over the past few months it became very noticeably protruded, so I started looking into removal surgery.
First, before surgery, I had consultations at two places known for removal, and both places said it was a nose that needed surgery quickly (because if it breaks through the skin, recovery is difficult, etc.).
One place did not give an especially detailed explanation, but helped me clearly decide the direction I wanted, recommended a surgical method to match it - non-open + complete removal (silicone, ear cartilage, capsule) + cartilage repositioning (surgery time about 1 hour), and said it was not a difficult surgery! The other place gave a very detailed explanation and showed cases similar to mine. They said contracture was not strongly suspected, but it seemed to have progressed slightly, and even if not, the chance of developing contracture was high. They recommended a similar surgical method to the above, but with an open approach (surgery time 4-5 hours).
The consultations at both places were similar, but I did hesitate because the surgery times and costs were clearly different (cost varies by person, so I won’t write it separately. It was about a twofold difference). In the end, I had it done at the first hospital, which gave me confidence that the removal would not be difficult!
On the day of surgery, I had another consultation, and the doctor reassured me by saying I would become prettier today, so I had the surgery feeling half excited and half scared. The surgery took about an hour? under sedation anesthesia, and I had the splint removed on day 3 and the stitches removed on day 7!
First of all, after complete nasal removal, I’m very satisfied.. I’m touched!!!! My nose, which looked obviously high from rhinoplasty to anyone who saw it (I did hear a lot that my nose was pretty, but I started thinking about removal because of the protrusion.. and even felt like the nasal tip was somehow gradually rising more and more..), has become a really, really naturally high nose..!
There is still some swelling and bruising, but so far I have no complaints or worries. In my case, the protruding area is no longer visible, so I’m very, very satisfied :)
Once you decide on removal, I think it’s good for your body and mind to look into it quickly and remove it quickly..!(haha) I hope everyone ends up with an even prettier nose than now~~!!
