I finally had them removed 10 years after my rhinoplasty. Since last year, I had felt tightness in my nose and a foreign-body sensation, so I decided to have removal surgery, but after hesitating, I finally did it now.
I went to the original hospital, and only then did I find out that Medpor had been used. I consulted at places well known in this community and had it done at the place I felt drawn to. Since my first surgery was done with an open approach, this one was also open surgery, and I had the silicone, cartilage, and Medpor all removed, plus cartilage repositioning.
I was psychologically anxious right up until the surgery, so it was very hard. I was worried about Medpor adhesions, whether the visible cartilage and nasal obstruction could be properly resolved, whether symmetry would be right, and whether there would be nasal upturning. I think I got through it by searching for reviews.
When I heard about the surgical findings, they said the silicone had shifted completely to one side and that the Medpor had been inserted as a thin, long piece. I think that’s why my nose looked crooked.
In the end, the surgery went well, and I like that my high, pointy nose has become rounded and natural. It’s still day 1, so I’ll need the swelling to go down to know the shape, but I feel relieved that all the artificial materials are gone.
There are probably many people like me who start worrying about surgery belatedly, and I recommend going directly to hospitals for consultations and taking action. Once you have consultations, there will be a place you feel drawn to. I hope you believe that choice is the best one and don’t waver.
