Previous nose surgery: hump removal + silicone on the nasal bridge + nasal tip elevation with septal cartilage (about 5 years ago) Revision surgery 1 year later: I had revision surgery to fix the silicone because it was moving at the glabella/nasal bridge. Most recent revision surgery (2 weeks ago): removal of nasal bridge silicone + removal of septal cartilage from the nasal tip + nasal tip elevation with ear cartilage
Reason for revision surgery? Under incandescent light, the silicone showed through, and the outline of the silicone started to show. As time went on, the end of the silicone protruded in the middle part of my nose like a pimple. It became more and more noticeable over time, and last year my nasal tip became red, swollen, and tight, then settled down after about two days.
Once I started feeling stressed about silicone side effects, I kept constantly thinking, what if one day the silicone pierces through my skin and comes out? Aside from the silicone, as my nasal tip gradually drooped, the nasal lobule (the center line of the nose) started shifting to one side. Even when I took photos, I started seeing only the nasal lobule... and the stress about that also became really severe ㅠㅠ
Actually, before surgery, my nose only showed a slight hump from the side, and from the front it wasn’t an unattractive nose, so I regretted a lot, wondering if I had surgery for no reason.
After deciding on revision surgery, I read so many reviews in this community from people who had silicone removed, and I think I read posts saying that if you remove silicone, the glabella becomes lower, and if you’re doing it with the goal of becoming prettier, you should reconsider... So I thought about it very carefully and decided.
I repeatedly promised myself that even if, after removing the silicone, my glabella became lower, my eyes looked farther apart, and my face looked a little less attractive than before, I would not get rhinoplasty again for cosmetic purposes, and then I went ahead with the surgery.
I had the silicone removed, the septal cartilage in the nasal tip removed, and I asked them to elevate the nasal tip instead, so they did, using ear cartilage. Currently there is nothing in my nasal bridge, and there is ear cartilage in my nasal tip.
Fortunately, the existing silicone was thin at 2 mm, and my nasal bridge was not very low... so it didn’t become as low as I had expected!!!
They also aligned the nasal lobule well with the center line and corrected the nasal tip nicely, and the overall nose shape came out as the semi-ski-slope shape I wanted, so I’m very satisfied.
I don’t have to worry about the silicone anymore, and the nose shape came out the way I wanted..... Now I really have nothing more to wish for. Even if the nasal tip drops more over time, I’ll just accept it and live with it ㅠㅠ I will absolutely never touch my nose again!!!
I’m going to live very satisfied like this.
