It has already been 9 months since my double jaw surgery. I did not know time would pass this quickly. In the early stage, swelling and pain really shook my mental state, but now every time I look in the mirror, I feel even more strongly that I made the right choice. I barely remember my old face anymore, and now it has become so natural that it feels completely like my own face. The major swelling is already gone, and even the residual swelling feels almost cleared out. There is still a slight puffiness in the morning, but it goes down quickly. Sensation in the tip of the chin and around the mouth has come back much more than before, and sometimes there is only a little tingling. There is absolutely no inconvenience in daily life. What I like most these days is taking photos. Before, I was extremely conscious of angles and would smile with my mouth covered for no reason, but now I just smile naturally. It still feels strange that smiling with my teeth showing is not awkward. Because my jawline has been refined, my side profile has become much softer too. Functionally, it is much more comfortable as well. I can eat almost everything, and I have mostly corrected the habit of chewing only on one side. The tightness and pain in the jaw are almost gone now. I am still in orthodontic treatment, so it is not completely comfortable yet, but compared with before surgery, it has really improved a lot. People around me say my overall impression has become better. It does not feel like I changed too much, but rather that things were naturally refined, and that makes me even happier. There were hard times too, but as of now, my satisfaction is over 90%. The saying that time is medicine seems true. Now I just live as if... this had always been my face :)
