10 months after orthognathic surgery for prognathism and asymmetry, with swelling settled: an honest review

It has already been 10 months since my double jaw surgery. I really thought time would never pass, but looking back, it went by in a flash haha The first 1 to 2 months were honestly so hard that I wondered why I had even done it. Because of the swelling and nasal congestion, I could not sleep properly, and when I looked in the mirror I felt unfamiliar with my own face, so at that time I had no idea whether this was really turning out well. But after 3 to 5 months, the residual swelling started to go down little by little, and around the 6-month mark I could feel the overall lines settling. Now at 10 months, it is just my face. It is really natural. At this point there is almost no swelling left, and as the jawline became more defined, my impression became much softer. I used to hate having my side profile photographed, but these days I do not worry about angles and just take the picture lol This was the first time I realized how comfortable it is not to feel tense when checking photos. The functional side is also completely back to normal. I eat hard foods without worrying, and there is no awkwardness at all when I speak or laugh. I think all the practice I did opening my mouth hard in the early stage helped a lot haha More than anything, the best part is that once the thing I used to worry about disappeared, I stopped thinking about it altogether. Before, I was constantly aware of face angles, jawline, and asymmetry, but now I hardly think about those things. The first week after surgery was really hard, but even after just two months the satisfaction level went way up, and I think this is the kind of surgery where the longer time passes, the more you feel that you made the right choice. Honestly, looking back now, I even wish I had done it earlier haha If you are still debating it, I think it is really true that if you just get through the early period, things gradually become more comfortable and natural. As someone who is now 10 months out, my conclusion is total satisfaction!
