It has been 6 months since I had surgery from Director Shin Heejin at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and wow, half a year already feels kind of amazing lol
I originally had a protruding jaw and a malocclusion, so I was quietly stressed about it a lot. Eating sometimes felt like my bite was off, my jaw would get tired if I ate for too long, and my pronunciation would occasionally feel a bit off, so I kept worrying about it. When I took photos, it felt like my jaw was the first thing you saw, and I hated that too. So for me, the decision was less about just wanting to look prettier and more about function. It felt like, if I was going to do it anyway, I should do it properly.
I consulted at several hospitals, but after my consultation at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I leaned toward them. Director Shin Heejin explained things directly without beating around the bush, and honestly that made me like it more!!!! She said clearly what could be done and what would be difficult, and that honesty gave me confidence, so I decided to go ahead with surgery there right away!!
Now it has been 6 months, and it is almost funny how much my mental state wavered in the early swelling period. These days, the biggest thing I notice is that my bite fits properly rather than my face itself. I keep thinking, can eating really be this comfortable? ^3^ Before, there was always some kind of awkwardness. Now I just eat and speak naturally, and I like that a lot. My mouth shape also feels more comfortable than before.
The swelling feels like it has almost completely gone, and my face shape has become much softer too. It is not like I became a completely different person in some dramatic, unrecognizable way, but my impression feels neater and my facial line feels more defined. What matters most is that I no longer keep worrying about my jaw like before, and that makes me happy!
Honestly, now I even wonder why I worried for so long. 6 months really does feel like the true stabilization period, and I am very satisfied that I had surgery with Director Shin, who performed it without any side effects at all~
