Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Review of simultaneous double jaw and contour surgery, hearing for the first time that my face is small lately

I am 2 months post double jaw surgery, and the thought I have most often these days is, oh, I am not covering my jaw anymore? That is it. Before, whenever I took photos, my hand would always go to my jaw out of habit hehe, but these days I just take the photo. I care less now, and I think that is surprisingly a big change. I had double jaw surgery with Director Kim Jongyoon at IY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and now my wafer treatment is done and the upper gum screws have also been removed! When the wafer was taken out, the bite felt a little awkward for a moment. I wondered if it still was not aligned, but after some time I got used to it. It feels like my jaw is being adjusted to the position it was supposed to be in originally hehe. Actually, before surgery I almost never took off my mask and went around because I was too aware of my asymmetric jaw and how much it stuck out forward. I also tried orthodontics, but the fundamental bone position stayed the same, which was frustrating. That is what eventually led me to double jaw surgery, but after consulting at several places, I chose IY Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery because their explanation made the most sense. Director Kim Jongyoon explained why my face shape appears this way based on tooth structure and occlusion, and what functional changes would happen, so I just felt, okay, I should do it here. Some places recommended surgery first, but for me a step-by-step approach was the right one, and I liked that they matched that direction! These days people around me often tell me my face looks smaller hehe. To be honest, I started this for functional reasons, but the result also gave me a more refined face shape, which is kind of surprising. I am only 2 months in, so it is not fully finished yet, but the swelling has gone down a lot and daily life is almost normal. Eating is not very inconvenient either. More than anything, the biggest change is that I do not hide my jaw like before. Surgery was scary, but looking at it now, I think the time I spent worrying alone was more of a waste, so I am really satisfied!!
