Nose Re-Surgery

It’s been one week since my revision surgery.

It’s a bit of an unusual case, but I’m posting in case it helps anyone. I had surgery a total of three times, and this time I had the cartilage removed. 1. Surgery in February 2010 / My nose was originally quite high for an Asian person, but it was very slightly hump-nosed. I didn’t do it in Seoul, and because I was young and didn’t know anything, I just did whatever the doctor suggested. The protruding part was shaved down, and because I was worried it might be uneven, a truly paper-thin layer of Gore-Tex was placed, the septum was used to support the nasal tip, and ear cartilage was added on top. My nose was already high, and after doing this, people would believe it if I said I was mixed-race. Literally, my nose was higher than most Westerners’. Then the Gore-Tex around the glabella area ended up folding. It looked uneven and there was a problem. 2. Surgery in February 2011 / I decided to remove the Gore-Tex and had surgery. Instead of Gore-Tex, cartilage as thin as sliced almonds was placed over the areas that seemed like they would be uneven. (This is usually fine, but when I put on lipstick and press my lips together, that shape can be seen. Still, it didn’t look too strange, so I left it.) The nasal tip was left as it was. But after doing this.. ha.... when I made the “mm” mouth shape like when pressing my lips together after applying lipstick... I could see the nasal tip cartilage splitting.. despair.... 3. June 2012 / In the end, I had revision surgery using wider cartilage.. But this time, maybe the cartilage used was too large, because the nasal tip cartilage showed through.. It showed through in a horseshoe shape at the nasal tip, and this was seriously so stressful.. It was even hard to look at people face-to-face.. 4. So finally, last week I had everything removed! I left the nasal dorsum and the septal support in place and removed everything else! Honestly, I was really worried because my skin had probably already stretched a bit.. and I thought my nose might spread out flat once the splint was removed, but I removed the splint yesterday and it turned out so well! I seriously almost cried.. As I said above, my nose was very high and a bit large.. Even though the cartilage was removed and the raised septum was trimmed smaller, my nose became smaller overall! The nose that had drooped because the cartilage was heavy became a little shorter, the nostril wings became a bit smaller, and my nose really became much prettier.. My mom is also so happy and says it’s such a relief! 1, 2, and 3 were at the same clinic.. not in Seoul, and 3 was in Gangnam. It did cost quite a bit of money.. but I’m relieved. I’m so happy because mine turned out well, but they say contracture can also occur if you remove implants.. Everyone, I hope you all get good results.
