Before surgery I deliberated a lot before deciding on double-jaw surgery. After having enough time and discussion with the doctor, I thought it over. The advantage of being able to see my face in advance after surgery, along with the precise and clear explanations of exactly what I was worried about, made me trust the doctor enough to book immediately without visiting anywhere else.
The day of surgery passed in a blur, and from the moment I opened my eyes, it felt like a completely new life had begun.
Recovery after surgery As time passed, the swelling gradually went down, and daily life became much more comfortable than at first. Seeing the changes little by little each day, I began to think, “I really made the right decision having surgery.”
The most amazing part of recovery was watching my facial shape gradually change as the swelling subsided. At first, the swelling was so severe that the changes were hard to notice, but when I compared photos later, the differences were clear.
Changes after surgery The biggest change I noticed was that the overall impression of my face had changed. Comparing photos from the front and side, it clearly felt different from before.
What I felt I had always received not-so-playful teasing like “Your face is long” and “Why is your jaw crooked?” But now people around me often say, “Your face has gotten so small” and “You look kinder.”
The biggest change, in my opinion, is that my self-esteem has definitely improved.
Before surgery, I absolutely hated having my picture taken. When I had no choice but to take photos, I often covered my jaw or face. Even afterward, I think I kept worrying about how my face had turned out.
But now, unlike before, I no longer feel the need to cover my face when taking photos. Being able to confidently capture myself just as I am is what I like most.
