Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Three months after double-jaw surgery: I like my face more as the residual swelling goes down haha

It has already been three months since I underwent double-jaw surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. At first I waited for the swelling to go down, but now I live normally and compare photos to check the changes haha. I had struggled with malocclusion since I was a student. I visited an orthodontic clinic to see whether braces could solve it, but they said I was a case that required double-jaw surgery. From then on, I began thinking that I should have the surgery. I chose Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery because I felt a great deal of trust during the consultation. I liked seeing the surgical director and orthodontic director discuss together which treatment direction to take. I also thought it was an advantage that the dental clinic was together, allowing the two doctors to communicate quickly. I looked through reviews as well, and chose it because there were many changes with the kind of look I wanted. Immediately after surgery, even though my face was swollen, I could clearly feel that my lower lip had moved inward. On day 2, I could also see that my face had become shorter, which was fascinating. Early on, having a blocked nose and difficulty breathing was more uncomfortable than the pain. I often woke up during the night, and day 4 was a little difficult because the facial swelling was at its worst T_T. Still, as time passed, the swelling gradually decreased, and the bruising on my neck and cheeks also became lighter. In the second month, I could not feel the swelling decreasing every day, but I could see the difference when comparing photos from before surgery or month 1. Especially in profile, I could see that my mouth and chin had moved inward, so it was fascinating every time I took a photo. However, I still seemed to have quite a lot of cheek fat, so I even considered getting dermatological treatment later. But when I compared my three-month photos this time, I realized that the cheek area had also been gradually getting less swollen! What I thought was cheek fat may have been residual swelling haha. I could not tell by looking in the mirror every day, but when I placed the photos side by side, I could see the change. As the residual swelling decreases a little more, my face feels smaller, and I like my face more as time passes. Eating has also become much easier. At first I was so tired of porridge that I was happy just to eat steamed egg or castella soaked in soy milk, but by month 2 I could eat about 70% of a regular meal. Now I can eat meat, and recently I even tried grilled intestines! As long as I do not overdo it and eat too much, I can eat a reasonable amount. I am happy that I can gradually eat the foods I want again haha. Since month 2, there has been almost nowhere painful or uncomfortable, so daily life has not been affected. Now it is fun to check how I look different in photos. I am also undergoing orthodontic treatment after the double-jaw surgery, so I am looking forward to seeing how my bite settles in the future. There is still some residual swelling, but after seeing how I have gradually changed over three months, I am looking forward to the changes ahead!
