I had surgery a long time ago, and I had my bulbous nose surgery done with an external incision. They say the scar will fade with time, but I spent a huge amount of money on laser treatment just to make it fade... If you don't put on heavy makeup, of course it shows. I had revision surgery because I had to remove the silicone due to inflammation, and the nose shape itself became natural. I didn't have very high expectations to begin with, so I'm just okay with it. But since the method ultimately involves exposing the nasal skin and stitching it, when I smile, the line shows up as a vertical stripe. I have quite a lot of nasal tissue, so that may be why, but most people considering external-incision bulbous nose surgery probably have a lot of tissue too. So when I smile big, the tissue moves, and the vertical line runs straight along that incision-and-suture line. It has become much more natural now, so it isn't at the point where I feel stressed even without makeup, but it took about 3 years to get there. I think it's the kind of surgery that makes sense if you're stressed enough to accept that, or if you're not sensitive, or if you've let go of a certain amount of desire. Making an incision right in the center of the nose and leaving a scar is not an easy decision in itself, but anyway, after time passed, it isn't bothersome to a large degree, and I don't think my bulbous nose would have improved this much without the external-incision method. I don't feel like the doctor gave a very professional consultation.... I remember it as a consultation that felt like a yes-man and like he was just being nice, but he was a good person.
