Nose Re-Surgery

Full nose implant removal after 10 years (Day 7)

Hi, 10 years ago I had 2 mm silicone + nasal tip cartilage + septal cartilage. My nose before surgery had no bridge, was small, and was slightly upturned. Suddenly, the right side of my nose became itchy, red, and swollen, and I saw yellow discharge and scabs, so I rushed to an ENT clinic. They told me I had to remove all the silicone immediately. If I didn’t, skin necrosis could happen. So I called the clinic where I had my cosmetic surgery, and they made an appointment for me. I couldn’t go that same day, so I went the next morning, and as soon as the doctor saw me, they said I needed emergency surgery that day. They also said my nose would collapse and contracture would occur, and honestly my mind went completely blank.. But what could I do? They said it would be a bigger problem if I didn’t remove it. So I held back my tears and had the full removal done that day. They told me to come in the next day to check the progress, so I went, and they said there was a hole inside the right side of my nose. The discharge had been flowing out through there. The left side also looked concerning, so they said they stitched both sides together. They said that if that hole hadn’t been there, discharge would have built up inside and it would have been more serious. What I thought was a relief was that the doctor was smiling more than the day before? So I wondered if maybe it wouldn’t collapse too badly. The major swelling was the worst up to day 3 after surgery, and after that it went down a lot, maybe because I drank a lot of water and used warm compresses. Tomorrow I’m going to get the splint and stitches removed. I’ll come back with another review!
