My bulbous nose had been a complex of mine for a long time, so I thought a lot about getting plastic surgery. My skin is thick too, and since people often say nose surgery can have poor outcomes, I lived thinking I shouldn’t do it. But then I suddenly started looking into surgery because I thought, “You only live once, so I should do what I want before I die.”
Because I had been thinking about it for a long time, I knew my own nose shape accurately. It wasn’t low, but it wasn’t high either; I had thick skin, a round bulbous nose, and a slightly protruding mouth.
So first, I looked for a clinic whose results matched my aesthetic taste, and after that I looked for an experienced doctor who could address both a protruding mouth appearance and a bulbous nose. Thanks to that, I decided on Director Lee Dong-eun at OM. I brought a couple of photos of celebrities with straight-to-slightly-upturned noses and face shapes similar to the straight-to-slightly-upturned nose results posted on the website, had my consultation, and proceeded with surgery.
Since it was a bulbous nose, I thought the swelling would be severe because of soft-tissue or fat-layer removal, but there was so little swelling and bruising that I was taken aback. When I looked at reviews, most people had the area around their eyes turn purple or swell up a lot, so I thought I would be the same, but I had none of that at all.
My face was just slightly swollen on the evening of day 2, and after that only some yellowing came up. By today, day 7, when the splint and stitches were removed, it had almost all disappeared. It didn’t hurt at all more than I expected, and the nasal packing wasn’t that uncomfortable either, to the point that I wondered if this was normal.
According to Gemini, it might be because the doctor performed the surgery well so the incision and suturing were done really well, or because I have a constitution with very good recovery resilience. (For reference, I do one meal a day on a ketogenic diet, and I tend to eat salad raw without dressing. I don’t eat corn either because of the sugars.)
Anyway, from the consultation on March 6, to surgery on the 13th, to splint removal on the 20th, it took exactly 2 weeks, and I’m satisfied with the result. It’ll look more natural once the major swelling goes down, right?
Since it was a bulbous nose to begin with, I thought it wouldn’t look too obvious even if I made it dramatic, so I asked for a dramatic straight-to-slightly-upturned nose. And because of my seasonal rhinitis, I chose donated costal cartilage as the material, and maybe thanks to that, my recovery speed has been very fast.
