Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews@jaw-review

I’m 5 Months Post-Double Jaw Surgery

I was on the taller side since middle school, and my jaw grew along with me, so I heard more teasing than complimentsㅠㅠ I also had malocclusion, so even when my mouth was closed, my jaw looked protruded, and I was really stressed. Even after entering high school, the nicknames never stopped, so I was really upset. It’s not like I chose to grow tall, and it’s not like I intentionally had a protruding jaw, so why was everyone only criticizing me for it.. I really had those thoughts a lot. Then I thought, I can’t live like this, let’s change it, and eventually decided to have double jaw surgery. My biggest goal was improving my protruding jaw. Double jaw surgery is a truly major surgery that you might only have once or twice in your life, if at all. So I researched a lot about where to get it done. At first I only thought about plastic surgery clinics, but as I looked into it more, I learned there is a specialty called oral and maxillofacial surgery. It was unfamiliar to me at first too, but I heard that for double jaw surgery, rather than plastic surgery, a hospital that specializes in malocclusion and jawbone structure is oral and maxillofacial surgery, so I thought that would be much better. Especially when I was in the military, I happened to watch YouTube and saw a channel from an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. The directors’ explanations were so systematic and professional that I trusted them right away. I watched it with my mom and thought this place seemed trustworthy, especially because the directors improved not only functional aspects but also aesthetic ones! As soon as I came out on terminal leave, I went for a consultation right away and ended up having surgery haha Right after surgery, it was really hard to breathe, and my face was completely swollen, so I thought, wow, I really did something hugeㅋㅋ But as time passed, I could breathe, and as the swelling gradually went down, I finally felt a bit relievedㅠㅠ Especially when I walked a lot, I could visibly see the swelling go down! After about 1 week, although some bruising remained, I could feel that the swelling had gone down a lot. Around months 2~3, I could eat almost most foods, and sensation slowly started coming back. And now I’m 4 months post-op! I have almost no discomfort eating now, and as long as it’s not really hard food, everything is fineㅋㅋ A lot of sensation has also returned, so I’m really happy. Before surgery, I often heard that hats didn’t suit me because my face shape was uneven, but now after double jaw surgery, maybe because my facial contour is more refined and smaller, I hear a lot that hats look good on me haha As someone who had a lot of concerns because of malocclusion + protruding jaw, now that 5 months have passed since double jaw surgery, I’m satisfied with having had surgery at the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic!!
