I had double-jaw surgery at EverM Dental 15 years ago. I’m currently living well and satisfied. I’d like to share a review of what I felt while living with it for a long time afterward. The advantage of the surgery is that I’m satisfied that I was able to get the effect I wanted. However, the disadvantages were difficult for me to know at the time of surgery. This is, not a complication from surgery at a specific hospital, but generally possible side effects (unwanted effects) that can be experienced after double-jaw surgery. The parts I felt were 1) Gum recession After double-jaw surgery, orthodontic treatment is also carried out, and during the orthodontic process the teeth move, and the gums gradually recede little by little. (Especially the lower anterior teeth area) It may differ from person to person, and there is no functional problem, but it can be aesthetically concerning. 2) Double chin When correcting a protruding jaw, the lower jaw is moved backward and rotated, so the space in the chin decreases. That’s why the fat under the chin can naturally look more emphasized than before surgery. The sharp jawline kind of disappeared. 3) Pin removal (If you can, definitely do it.) I didn’t remove them because I was told they wouldn’t interfere with daily life, but problems occur during MRI scans. (Cannot be scanned) Because the pins react to the strong magnetic field, you cannot enter the MRI equipment at all. I tried to get a scan because of a disc issue, but my head rang and I got dizzy, so I gave up. These days, I hear there are dissolvable pins too... The world has gotten better. There may be other very minor things, but I don’t think they are bothersome enough. Even if I went back to that time, I think I would still do it.
