Immediately after two-jaw surgery, I had nausea and some difficulty breathing due to aftereffects of general anesthesia. The two-jaw surgery site itself did not hurt much, but the symptoms from anesthesia felt much harder. They said day 1 would be the biggest hurdle, and in reality, after just one day, breathing became much easier and my condition recovered a lot. After the tube was removed, there was no major discomfort other than throat pain, and by the time I was discharged, I actually felt more comfortable than immediately after surgery. Wearing the wafer was uncomfortable, but as the swelling gradually went down and recovery progressed, I started looking forward to one month later. By month 3, I had recovered to the point where chewing was almost not uncomfortable, and my pronunciation improved noticeably. More than 90% of sensation had returned, with only a slightly dull feeling remaining in a small area under the lip. When going out, I could temporarily remove the wafer, so my activities became much freer, and I was naturally eating mostly soft foods such as risotto or ramen. I started to feel certain that deciding to have the surgery was a very satisfying choice with no regrets. By month 6, I felt that I had reached an almost complete recovery. Most of the swelling was gone, and discomfort when chewing had disappeared. Eating became much freer, and my pronunciation became accurate when speaking normally, so the stress of conversation was completely relieved. I was also diagnosed as having good normal bone union, and there was no interference at all with daily life. I felt highly satisfied in both appearance and function, and I was truly realizing that my quality of life had improved greatly after surgery. By month 9, as orthodontic treatment entered its almost final stage, my overall satisfaction became even higher. People around me also said the surgical result looked very natural and turned out beautifully, so my confidence increased even more. In the past, I had stress about my appearance and pronunciation, but now I can interact with people comfortably without those concerns. I am so satisfied with the result that I even think it would have been nice if I had done two-jaw surgery a little earlier. Currently, I am satisfied both functionally and aesthetically, and I think I obtained such a good result that I can confidently recommend two-jaw surgery to those considering it.
