It has been about 2 years since I had non-extraction orthodontic treatment. Honestly, when you looked at me, it was not that my teeth were unattractive or extremely crooked. But my front teeth angled a little forward, and that personally stressed me out a lot. (People around me said it did not look that way at all.) After thinking and thinking about it, in 2021 I went to an orthodontic specialty dental clinic that was the hottest in Ilsan at the time. I really regret going to this dental clinic. It felt like they were running people through like a factory.. Looking back now, I wonder if it was really worth spending as much as 5 million won on full orthodontic treatment.. Since I did not have extractions, my facial line did not change either. Well.. in my case, they did say that if I had extractions, I would end up with a receding chin. And when I had my consultation, they never told me at all that I would have to live with a wire attached permanently (really permanently, until I die) to the backs of the 6 upper and 6 lower front teeth.. Well,, now that it is over, what can I do if I do not attach it? But there are several things I regret. Regarding pain,, while I had the braces on, it hurt so much the whole time. Even after removing them, I think my teeth were sensitive for a year. In the end, my complex about my front teeth was resolved, but I do not think full orthodontic treatment is something to do recklessly.
1. Unless your tooth alignment is really severe, be careful about full orthodontic treatment.. 2. It hurts throughout the entire orthodontic treatment. I could not even chew rice, so I mostly blended my food and ate it. 3. As everyone knows, the cost is usually several million won... 4. The duration differs by person, but for me it was 2 years without extractions (since the middle 6 months were delayed because I could not go for personal reasons, it was effectively 1 year and a half). 5. Depending on the clinic, you may have to live with metal wires permanently attached to your teeth. (+ They also said I had to wear retainers for 5 years, but I am not doing that.) Orthodontic treatment is not necessarily bad. Among people around me, friends whose tooth alignment was very crooked and who had severe snaggle teeth had extraction orthodontics when they were young, and the effect was really, really huge. But what I mean is, if you are in an ambiguous case like me, think carefully and decide. I hope you decide after considering the cost, the time, the pain you have to endure, and the side effects that may come later (such as tooth sensitivity).
