Nose Surgery Reviews@rhino-review

Post-op review for those who are worried..

I’ve read a lot of posts here, and it’s already been 2 years since I started posting. I’m leaving this review for anyone who is worried that something went wrong. I’ve had nose surgery 3 times. Of course, not because something went wrong. The first surgery was literally a stew of worry. From wondering whether I had chosen the right hospital, when I looked in the mirror that night after surgery I was stomping my feet in panic. I kept thinking, what on earth have I done? I was making a huge fuss, even though I’m a man. Still, as the swelling gradually went down, I calmed down, and since other people also said I’d done well to get my nose done, I felt really good about it myself too. But, even though I was satisfied after surgery with dermis and ear cartilage, I always wished the tip of my nose were just a little higher. So I touched my nose again after 1 year and 6 months. The doctor preferred a nose with both the tip and bridge high together, and said it was fine as it was, but I wanted a nose with a high tip and a slightly deeper bridge between the eyes, like foreign models. After the second surgery (I had both done with closed rhinoplasty.) my nostrils were originally uneven, but because the tip of my nose went up a lot, it was so obvious that it was distressing. Because of the swelling, it was slightly lifted, and that made it even worse. It felt like the columella was crooked too.. The doctor showed me my pre-op photos and said my nostrils had originally been uneven and that most people are asymmetrical, so I shouldn’t worry, and people around me said they hadn’t noticed until I pointed it out, but I was still very bothered by it. So just 6 days after my second surgery, I had a third surgery, this time open. The evening I came home after surgery. When I looked in the mirror, one nostril had become completely and severely larger, and because there were stitches at the columella incision, it looked absolutely gross. I felt depressed, thinking I’d done something stupid again. I seriously wondered whether I should have the nostril incision done, and I actually got to the point where my body started hurting. It felt like my nose was extremely upturned.. I was truly devastated. But the thing is, back during the first and second surgeries too, I worried because my nose was upturned, my nostrils got bigger, and I was swollen, but even though this was the third time, having the exact same experience as before made me completely anxious like it was my first surgery. It wasn’t just, “This happened before, so let’s just wait for the swelling to go down,” but I got so anxious as if it were my first surgery that I wanted to turn back time.. Today is the third day since my third open surgery. The swelling is going down day by day, and the upturned tip has also come down a bit, so it looks better. The open incision scar, which looked gross because of the black stitches, also barely shows now that the stitches have been removed.. It really is like a fine line. I thought I should diligently apply scar ointment, but I’m worried I’ll get lazy ;; It was the same with the first and second surgeries, but with the third one too, I only felt reassured once the tip of my nose came down and the swelling went down a bit.. Right now, I love it, and the tip of my nose is exactly at the height I wanted, so I’m satisfied. Everyone has been telling me it was the right choice to do the tip again, so I’m feeling a bit more reassured. In this way, whether it’s the first, second, or third time, worry is truly exactly the same. Just because the first time went well, there’s no such thing as feeling reassured for a revision surgery. Even the doctor who did a good job on both the first and second surgeries still got to the point where I couldn’t trust him even after the third surgery. That’s how much I worry. If the swelling goes down well this time (I go down quickly.) I’m not going to have cosmetic surgery again. It’s not just that I’m satisfied, but because I really know how intense that worry is, and how hard it is. I’m writing this while worrying, and you all are writing while worrying too.. Honestly, until the swelling goes down, I think the best thing is not to think about the nose. Even though it’s a revision surgery and it swelled just like last time, to the point that I worried something was wrong, post-op stress after cosmetic surgery is serious, but distracting yourself with other activities as much as possible seems good for preventing inflammation too. After my third surgery, I felt like I was going to lose my mind (because I kept thinking, why did I do it.. I want to turn back time..) so I lay in bed all day watching a TV series. While doing ice packs. And now, on the third day.. the swelling has calmed down a bit, and the nostril shape and the upturned pig-nose shape seem to have returned to normal. After the first and second surgeries too, everything normalized quickly, the remaining swelling went down, and it’s still like that now. Many people sent me private messages, and I know that you’re struggling with the exact same worries as I am. I also practically lived in this community, and even after getting nose surgery, I researched how things turn out afterward and how long swelling takes to go down so thoroughly that I could have presented at an academic conference, yet I still worried, and I would come here just because my nose twitched once a day, thinking it might be inflammation. But it was needless worry. Of course, if your nose turns red and swells or hurts, that could be inflammation and you should go to a clinic.. But just like the many post-op reviews here, on the first day after nose surgery, if it’s very swollen and the tip of the nose is a bit lifted, or the nostrils look larger or smaller.. most of those are just needless worries. So everyone... Of course you’ll worry, but please relax a little, and like me, watch the dramas or movies you’ve been putting off and try not to stress yourself out as much as possible. And keep a positive mindset, thinking the result will be good after a month. I don’t know about other things, but on the evening after surgery, if the nose is a bit upturned or the nostrils look much larger, things like that.. just wait calmly for one week. In one week, you’ll start to see some recovery, and around two weeks, you’ll be able to see how well it’s likely to recover. All the many sad posts here.. the posts saying something went wrong.. the posts saying it was removed.. there are so many because people don’t come here when things go well.. After my first surgery too, I didn’t come here for about 1 year and 6 months. I came back when I was about to have the second surgery. It’s the same for others too. When things go well, people don’t come back here afterward.. That’s why there are more posts saying things got worse. So please don’t be too anxious, and try to keep your mind at ease. Mine went well too, so once the swelling is all gone, I probably won’t come here for a while either. And for those who are reading this before surgery.. About choosing a clinic,.. you shouldn’t choose based on whether it’s cheap or famous. No matter how little time you have, even if you have to delay your nose surgery a bit, visit every clinic you can, and only after that, proceed with nose surgery with a clinic and method you feel certain about, with enough consultation. I visited more than 50 places, and every time I had nose surgery, I consulted and discussed with the doctor 3 to 4 times until it became annoying, yet even after it was done, I was stomping my feet in anxiety. I hope you can find the clinic that suits you well. Then everyone, may you all get pretty noses!!^^
