A year ago, I had surgery for osteotomy of a wide nasal bridge + septal support graft + cartilage tying + a slight septal cartilage overlay on the glabella and the uneven area of the nasal dorsum..
It wasn’t a hump nose; it was a low, wide nose, and instead of raising it with silicone, I chose to make it look natural using only autologous cartilage. But as time passed, my nose became more blunt, and the septal cartilage overlaid on the nasal dorsum showed through too much, so I started thinking about removal..
Every morning, the tip of my nose felt swollen, heavy, and hard.. I also got a lot of pimple-like bumps, so I decided to remove it.
It took about 2 hours, and because the osteotomy last time was done asymmetrically, I also had osteotomy correction.
Since my nose was wide, I wanted to leave the cartilage tying in place, but I was worried that if I left it, the shape could change again later and new side effects like pinching could occur, so I asked them to loosen it. The doctor talked as if he couldn’t understand why I would even loosen that..
He scared me by saying I should accept it even if it spread a lot, so when I said then please tie it, he told me to loosen everything, maybe because he thought I would later ask him to do it again, and spoke in an irritated tone, so in the end I loosened everything..
Other people said removal is simple and there isn’t much swelling or bruising, but I’m taped up with gauze just like during my first surgery, and I have a headache and aching pain.. It hurts even after taking medicine.. Oh, I had it removed with an open approach.. When I asked for a closed approach, he said it couldn’t be done..
Maybe that’s why it hurts a lot..ㅠㅠ
Looking at the overall taped-up appearance, my nose seems upturned and a lot shorter.. Is that because of swelling?
