Right after surgery, the hardest part was difficulty breathing rather than pain, and it was painful enough that I could barely sleep ㅜㅜ Since I had to stay sitting up, my lower back hurt too, and the facial swelling got so severe that I was scared to look in the mirror. But as I gradually became able to breathe and shower, I started to feel that I was recovering. After I started taking walks, I could definitely feel the swelling and pain decrease, and although I developed a slight bruise on my neck, I thought of it as part of the recovery process, so I wasn’t anxious. There were many things I wanted to eat, but I had to be careful because of dietary restrictions, and I remember wanting to ask the hospital what I could eat. Now that I’m already in my 4th month after surgery, I’m gradually sleeping better and my condition has recovered, so the range of soft foods I can eat has expanded too lol. I’ve been cutting foods like ramen and gukbap into small pieces and eating them, and I’ve gotten my appetite back. The pain has almost disappeared, and thanks to normal sleep and meals, my fatigue has also decreased! The swelling went down slowly but steadily, and my physical condition improved enough for daily life to be possible! There were still restrictions on food, but I could feel that I was gradually recovering, and I’m glad I can now carefully eat soft foods like sweet potatoes or pizza haha. Because of rubber band orthodontic correction, I still have some limitation in opening my mouth, but it’s gradually getting better. Now my mouth opens enough that I can eat hamburgers without difficulty, and I can handle chewy foods to some extent too! I have no pain at all, and because my dental occlusion is becoming stable through orthodontic correction, my worries have decreased a lot. Overall, it has been a satisfying recovery process, and I have high expectations that it will get even better as time passes!!!! I think I was truly lucky to find EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and above all, I’m grateful to Director Shin Hee-jin!
