Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redo

Day 3 after septal cartilage and silicone removal.

I had a slight hump, so through an open approach they shaved it down, and I had I-shaped silicone and septal extension done. It’s been almost 3 years since that nose surgery. As time passed, the implant also shifted to one side and my nostrils became uneven..ㅠㅜ My nasal bridge was originally somewhat high, but once the silicone was inserted, it looked even more unnatural. I did it because the hump bothered me, but instead, the area lower than where the hump had been started drooping. It was really a total mess. It ended up looking better before I had it done ㅠㅠ So I decided to have it removed.

I had the septal cartilage and silicone all removed through an open approach under sedation, and they used dissolvable sutures inside the nose and non-dissolvable sutures outside. What’s funny is that before, when I breathed in, it felt stuffy, like only about 60-70% of the air was getting in. Breathing is easier than before. Since the silicone is gone, the area between my eyebrows also came down, so I look softer, and I really love it so much ㅠㅠ I’ll only know about the nasal bridge after more swelling goes down, but one thing is certain: when I take side-profile photos, the drooping part on the nasal dorsum is gone. I showed a photo to my friend, and they said, how does it look prettier after taking it out, that the removal looks like the after-surgery result, and that I did well to remove it.

On the first day, I woke up from sleep and a little blood ran, and while eating chicken a bit ran again. From after surgery, my nose had tingling, stinging pain. It hurt when I opened my mouth wide while yawning or sneezing. I guess that makes sense, since raw tissue was opened and closed twice.

The day before yesterday was day 3, so I went in for disinfection. At first the manager disinfected it for me, and later the director came and personally disinfected it...ㄷㄷ While disinfecting everything with cotton, they said bruising had come up on the nasal dorsum, so it would be better to drain the pooled blood. But they also said I didn’t necessarily have to drain it, and to decide however I felt comfortable, so I asked them to drain it. Wow.. the needle was thick, so it really hurt ㅠ_ㅠ... After draining the blood, they said the implant and septal cartilage had been removed cleanly, and that the nostril correction was also done well. I’m scheduled to go on Thursday to have the stitches removed.

There’s still some swelling, but the overall shape feels, as others have said, like I can see both my pre-surgery and post-surgery appearance. Before surgery, I had a slight hump on the nasal dorsum, and the nasal tip gradually drooped, so the area below where the original hump was had sagged. Maybe because they shaved down the hump area during surgery, after removal my nasal bridge became straight and the drooping part disappeared. I guess they shaved it carefully back then. I’m really relieved there’s no splitting, trace, or indentation ㅠㅠ I was so worried it might look bad.

My nostrils have become rounder than after the nose surgery. The sizes of both nostrils aren’t 100% identical, and the right nostril is slightly bigger. I don’t remember whether my nostrils were uneven before surgery, but my face is slightly asymmetrical, and I think the fact that I lived with uneven nostrils after the nose surgery may also have had an effect.. After the nose surgery, the unevenness was very noticeable, but now I think it’s only visible if you look very closely, so I’m extremely satisfied.

The foreign-body sensation has definitely improved, and they said I still shouldn’t touch my nose much, so I can’t touch it too hard, but even if I lightly tap the nasal tip, that feeling like I was touching some alien finger instead of my own nose is gone. ㅜ_ㅜ..... sob sob

In my case, I had the cosmetic surgery done somewhere else. Because of the removal, I looked into various places, and every place I consulted said it would be over 2 million won. There were also places under 1 million won, but they were non-specialist clinics. While searching around, I found a hospital through an implant removal event search, went for a consultation, and went there for surgery. At first I was very worried because there weren’t any removal reviews. And getting back on the operating table was extremely scary and had hardened into something like trauma, so until right before anesthesia I kept thinking, what if it goes wrong again. I think I was trembling like crazy until the anesthesia started. I think they also paid attention during the surgery, the result is good, and even though I went at the event price, the director and staff treated me well, so later, after the swelling goes down, I feel like I should go bow to them ㅜ_ㅜㅋㅋ

Last time, I only posted text without photos saying I had removal done, but I think there are many people who are struggling like me after surgery because of foreign-body sensation, failed cosmetic surgery, and side effects, so I’m uploading photos of my original nose before surgery, my nose after surgery, and my nose after removal. (I tried to upload as many angles as possible, but I don’t have a full front-facing one from before surgery ㅜ_ㅜ) If the photos are hard to see, those on phones can see them well in PC version, and those on PC can see them well if they save them.
