Hello. It has been 1 year since my nose removal surgery. I had surgery for septal cartilage + AlloDerm + deviated septum + rhinitis + crooked nose + hump nose. I didn’t like that a septal support graft was used for my nasal tip and that AlloDerm was used, so after revision surgery, I had another revision. The 3rd surgery was complete removal. (A little AlloDerm remains)
It has been 1 year since complete removal.
The thing everyone is most curious about: the shape!!
It came back about 75-80%. From the front. The nostrils did not come all the way down, but about 3/5 of the way, and the columella, which had looked long because of the septal support graft, did become shorter, but because of repeated surgeries, the columella became thicker. And because not all of the AlloDerm was removed, the middle of the nasal bridge protrudes slightly. In short, from the side it looks a bit like a koala nose (the nasal tip droops, but my original nose was somewhat like that). From the front it might look slightly like a pig nose... but that’s just how I felt because my nostrils show more than with my original nose. Other people do not think it looks like a pig nose at all.
Is the nose soft and squishy?
Hmm... half yes and half no. No matter what kind of rhinoplasty it is, you should not touch the nasal tip. The more manipulation done to the nasal tip, the more it seems to go wrong.... ㅠ I think I’m at least at this level because my nasal tip manipulation was not too severe. The nasal tip is still hard. They say the septal support graft was removed, but even after 1 year it is still hard. The discomfort I used to feel when lowering my head seems to be gone, and seeing that the columella has become a bit shorter, I think it is true that the septal support graft was removed.. but the angular part of the nasal tip is hard.
The conclusion is that, if possible, don’t touch the nasal tip.
And today I got a scar-tissue injection. I came here because I wanted to talk about scar-tissue injections. When I pick my nose; the inner ceiling of the nostril feels thick and it just won’t go away.. The columellar scar has improved a lot, but maybe because it was incised twice (I’m someone who had inflammation in the columellar scar), the scar is still visible.. The columella is thick too. The incision area is a bit bumpy.
I looked into scar tissue. I was sure that if I went to the hospital that did my removal, they would just say there was nothing wrong and send me away. At a hospital that does scar-tissue injections, they looked at it and said my nose was not severe. It’s not like I can’t breathe, and appearance-wise it is not particularly bad.. They said I might feel that the effect is not that significant, but since my nostrils show a little, my columella looks thick, and the nasal ceiling is thick, I got the injection. They said to get at least 3 shots and watch how it goes. Once they actually injected the inside, they said the scar tissue was indeed thick. I asked, if the scar tissue inside my nose decreases and the thick columella decreases a little, will the lifted-looking nose improve a bit? They said it would improve. But it would likely be minimal. Still, it would be better than not doing it. It’s your choice.
I really hope this injection makes my nose return to my old nose. Right now, maybe because I got the injection, my nose has gotten a little bigger. I’ll try getting 3 injections once a week and post another review. For some reason I have a feeling it will go well.
