It’s been about 4 years since I had surgery with ear cartilage and L-shaped silicone. During my first surgery, the silicone wasn’t placed in the center, so I had revision surgery 1 year later. It did move to the center, but the design made my already short nose look even shorter, and it did look a bit upturned. My nostrils originally didn’t show, and I didn’t mind it looking a little upturned, but maybe because it was a revision surgery, excessive scar tissue formed, and it became hard and thick, like a bulbous nose. Starting maybe 6 months after surgery, I got scar-tissue injections 5 times, and there was no improvement at all, so I lived with it bulging for 3 years ㅜㅜ I had absolutely no intention of another revision surgery and thought I should just live with it even if it looked strange.. (For 3 years after the second surgery, I kept having tightness, stuffiness, and pressure in my nose, and when I pulled the columella out with my hand it felt a bit relieving. I guess that was a symptom of contracture.) But over the last 6 months.. the scar tissue that had formed rapidly went down, and my alae, which had been hard, became much softer. The bulging on the nasal bridge also became smooth. The bridge still feels hard when I touch it, but.. the tightness, heaviness, and pressure have become worse than before. The important thing is that compared with right after surgery, my nostrils now show a lot, and the nasal tip has lifted. I guess it gradually lifted year by year. I thought maybe my nose looked like a pig nose because I gained weight, but it really had become upturned ㅜㅜ I went around to clinics and they all said it was contracture.. They say using L-shaped silicone makes the nose turn up, but I don’t know if they mean it turns up as soon as it’s used, or if contracture happens.. The columella is set far back compared with both sides of the nasal tip, and the nasal tip is also short and raised. It’s exactly triangular.
Both surgeries were closed rhinoplasty, so I can’t even think about open surgery, and honestly I just want removal only, but everyone says that if I remove it while it’s already upturned, it usually becomes even more upturned. Has anyone had removal in a situation similar to mine? ㅜㅜ Please, if there is anyone, give me some advice ㅜㅜ Or I think I might be able to remove it and, through closed surgery, add a bit of ear cartilage to the nasal tip, so please recommend a clinic ㅜㅜ If I take out the L-shaped silicone, could something like depression/collapse happen? They say after removal it lifts during the contraction period and then comes back down a bit, but that probably means it returns to about my current state, right? Still upturned... sigh .. I sincerely want to live like a normal person. Without any worries...
