The day has come when I’m writing this post too. I originally meant to write it right after surgery, but for the first 3 months it was hard and my nose wouldn’t return to normal ㅠㅜ I really had such a hard time. In my case, I had it untied after almost 4 years, and even when I looked for information, there were only people who had early removal. There was so little information on cases like mine ㅠㅜ It was hard. My first surgery had only silicone and cartilage-tying, and I was told that if I wanted the cartilage-tying removed too, it would have to be released through an open approach, so I had the silicone removed right away at the place where I first had surgery... leaving only the cartilage-tying.
I frequently had rhinitis, so I would sneeze hard, blow my nose hard, and handle my nose roughly. This winter, both sides beside my nostrils developed contraction like contracture, the pinched look became extremely severe, and the columella became hard....
When I went for consultations, most clinics said that because so much time had already passed, the thread was likely decomposed and that this would not happen because of it.... So they said they couldn’t operate... At the clinic where I had it removed, they said that since the central columella was hard, Medpor might have been inserted, so I decided to remove it... I thought I needed to remove this quickly... because the depressed scars on the sides were getting worse and worse... I think this clinic also probably would not have done it if I had simply said I wanted only the cartilage-tying removed.... Still, they were the only ones who listened to my concerns sincerely, so I’m grateful ㅠ
In conclusion, when I flared my nostrils, I could feel the tied area pulling tightly and there was a foreign-body sensation, but after removal it disappeared 100%. The pinched look recovered about 96%, the depressed areas almost 90%, and I no longer feel hardness in the columella. There is still a very slight tightening sensation on both sides. Even now, it continues changing back to how it used to be. My nose is gradually spreading sideways like before.
Anyway, if it contracts, tightens, and looks pinched, I think it’s better to remove it quickly before it deforms... Fortunately, in my case it was simply tied only over the cartilage. There are people whose cartilage was resected and then tied, or there are also strange methods of tying. For those people, it may be different from my case ㅠㅜ It’s really important to go back to the original clinic and find out how it was tied!!! And for those who had cartilage-tying, I think you absolutely must not handle your nose carelessly afterward.... You could develop a strange contracture like I did...
Anyway, I feel relieved now. I wasn’t going to write a review, but I’m leaving this in case there are people like meㅠㅜ
I’m going to leave the community now.... Everyone, stay strong. Still, there really is always a way to survive ㅠㅜ I’m never having surgery again...
