Before <Before surgery - day of removal - day 6 (DuoDERM under the nose)> 6 years ago, I had an L-shaped silicone implant, ear cartilage at the nasal tip, hump nose osteotomy. I had the silicone and ear cartilage removed, and a new septal cartilage support strut was placed. It was a contracted nose without inflammation (a state where contracture had gradually developed). I didn’t know it was L-shaped, but after opening it up this time, I found out it was L-shaped. I was told during my first surgery that they had made a septal support strut, but this time I found out they hadn’t touched my septum at all.. Thankfully, they were able to use it well this time though.. Even surgical records can’t be trusted.. ㅜㅜ I guess you really don’t know until they open it up..
I narrowed down hospitals through a community, had consultations at 6 places, and had the removal and reconstruction done at the one place that best matched the conditions I wanted and felt the best to me.
Since I had received a lot of information from everyone in this community, I’m leaving this review in hopes it can help even a little.
My own criteria for choosing a hospital were that they had to use autologous material, and I didn’t want costal cartilage. The doctor had to be compatible with me, and I trusted places more if they didn’t ask patients for review discounts and didn’t rush same-day surgery bookings. When I went for consultations, I also looked at how many patients were in the waiting room. I thought a place with some patients would be a bit better than a place with none at all (though it could differ by time slot or day of the week). The most important things I considered were how well I communicated with the director and the shape the director pursued (since I wanted a natural look). At the hospital where I had surgery, every time I went, the director, consultant, and nurses were considerate without being overly kind, so I trusted them even more.
The surgery was open rhinoplasty under sedation anesthesia. Before surgery, we talked in detail about the shape, questions, and so on. After surgery, I received an explanation while looking at photos of the surgical process~ I saw in a community review that someone filmed this part, so I filmed it too, and when I watched it again at home, it was much easier to understand. Great tip!
After having surgery on Saturday, over the weekend, even with nasal packing in, I had runny discharge and bloody fluid coming out, and breathing through my mouth made me dry, so it was hard. On Monday, after the packing was removed, I felt like I could live again~
On Friday, day 6, when the stitches were removed, it hurt enough that I teared up a little. The director even wiped my tears with a tissue ㅜㅜ
They said my bruising and swelling right after surgery were severe, so I applied bruise cream starting from the day of surgery. After 3 days, only yellow bruising was left, and even the hospital was surprised~ Make sure to apply bruise cream often! There is still a little swelling left. I’m also taking swelling-reduction medicine from the pharmacy, but I guess swelling lasts a bit long for meㅠ It was my first time writing a review, so I wrote and uploaded a very long one, then deleted it once because I felt embarrassed and am leaving it again~ It’s still only day 6, so I’m also in the recovery stage, but if you leave comments with anything you’re curious about, I’ll reply for the time being as far as what I know and experienced!
