Before <right before going into surgery><day 11><day 14><day 14><day 14><day 14>I had functional rhinoplasty at The Face Plastic Surgery in Seomyeon, Busan.
There were not many plastic surgery clinics in Busan where functional nose surgery was covered by insurance, so my options were limited, but even aside from the insurance reimbursement, it was a place where I wanted to have surgery.
I had requested a consultation with Director Han Jae-jung, but during the consultation I did not have much time, so I could not meet Director Han Jae-jung. Because of that, I only had the consultation with Director Kim Byung-jun. I had seen many successful reviews, so I trusted them, but I still wanted to consult once more with the doctor who would be operating on my nose, so I had another consultation with Director Han Jae-jung. He was very cool about it and said we could proceed as written in the chart, asked if I had anything else I was curious about, and it ended in about 30 seconds, so I was a little taken aback, but both doctors had the same opinion about the consultation!
My schedule was difficult, so I changed the consultation time often and even one week before surgery I could not give a definite answer, but the people who called me, the people at the counter, and the manager all responded kindly, which I really appreciated.
Right before going into surgery, the director told me to think of it as our first consultation and tell him everything I wanted, so I said my nasal bridge was low and I wanted the nose line to be straight. I also said I hoped my T-zone would look more defined. After that, we did the final design and the surgery proceeded.
I did not have much surgery experience, so I was nervous, but Director Han reassured me and told me not to worry, and his confident way of speaking, which seemed to come from a lot of experience, relieved a lot of my tension. The nurses in the operating room were also very kind. The surgery was done under sedation anesthesia, and when I woke up intermittently and felt pain, it seemed like they gave me anesthesia again. The atmosphere in the operating room was very comfortable, with soft music playing. It started around 10:30 and the surgery ended around 12:30.
I received the aftercare box from the hospital, got my medication filled, and went home. I received 7 days’ worth of medication and ointment to apply inside the nose, and after my 7-day visit, I was prescribed about 3 more days of medication and scar ointment. They told me to apply the scar ointment 7 days after the stitches were removed.
On the first day, there was less swelling than I expected, but as expected, from the second day bruising and swelling started to appear. On the first day there was blue bruising around my eyes, then on the second day yellow and red bruising appeared, and on the third day the bruised area became larger. From the fourth day, it all changed to yellow bruising and the color also became lighter. On the day the nasal splint was removed (day 7), the bruising was barely visible, and on the day the taping was removed (day 10), it was all gone. Surprisingly, I had no pain at all. Thanks to the aftercare box, I was able to manage bruising and swelling sufficiently without buying various things separately.
After surgery, I visited the hospital for dressing on the day of surgery and on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, and 14.
I am really satisfied with the surgical result. The reactions from people around me have also been really good. I think all the online research and in-person consultations paid off like this. Even if I have another surgery, I think I would go back to Director Han again. Lastly, I am attaching before-and-after photos in the hope that my review will be at least a little helpful to those who are considering it.
