Tomorrow will mark one week. As of now, I’m getting by without any discomfort. Before having my implant removed, I was also someone who read through this community dozens of times, so I’m posting this in the hope that it may help even a little.
In early December 2019, I had rhinoplasty (4 mm nasal bridge implant + ear cartilage). My nose had always been very small, short, and low, and even before surgery, I had undergone procedures like filler and Hiko nose lift several times. Maybe because of that, my nose started to feel spread out and bigger, so I was the kind of case that decided to just go ahead with surgery. I thought surgery would naturally improve things cosmetically, but instead, people around me often said things like, “Doesn’t your nose look lower than when you had filler?” There wasn’t a single person who said it turned out well or that I looked prettier haha Later on, I think they realized I disliked it whenever the topic of my nose came up, so they stopped mentioning my nose surgery altogether. What I felt through this nose surgery was that the nasal tip is really important. As I said earlier, my nose was really small and short, and it might have been different if they had raised the tip while making it symmetrical, but they set the tip point too high, so it made my nose look upturned. I originally had asymmetrical nostrils, but it was only noticeable to me; after surgery, people around me noticed and said my nostrils were uneven.
Also, I had heard that there was a lot of bleeding during my first surgery and that it was hard to stop, so for this removal surgery, I wrote “difficulty with hemostasis” under special notes. But surprisingly, the surgery time was short, and they said there wasn’t much bleeding. So naturally, I didn’t have any bruising either haha It’s just the doctor’s skill. On day 2 after surgery, I went to the clinic for disinfection, and on day 5, they removed the splint and the external stitches. Since I had read so many reviews, I tried not to be shocked when I looked in the mirror, but putting aside how unattractive I looked, I looked so funny that I held up the mirror and laughed for a long time lol I had become seafood-like. Of course I had no nasal bridge, and I didn’t know the space between my eyes was this wide. Still, after removing the cartilage that had been in my nasal tip, the nose that had looked lifted improved a lot, so I’m more satisfied now. During my first surgery, I also went through severe contracture around week 2, so honestly, I’m still nervous now. I’m diligently doing warm compresses.
What I want to say is, early after surgery, if you think, “Huh? This doesn’t really suit my face,” then you can just assume it will stay that way. I used to have a youthful-looking face, but it became neither this nor that lolololol It just looked like I was wearing Groucho glasses, and my nose looked separate from my face. For nearly a year and a half, I avoided meeting people, and in a way, COVID was honestly a relief because I could wear a mask lololol Even now I look fish-like and my nasal bridge is almost completely gone, but still, this nose suits my face. To those thinking about removal, I want to say please remove it quickly before inflammation occurs. For those struggling because of their nose, I hope you find the courage to make whatever decision you need to make! Unless it’s reconstruction, let’s try not to do revision surgery if possible..... Fighting!
