Correction of an impacted tooth in the palate, upper teeth only

I had an impacted tooth in my palate (between the two front teeth) since I was little. Because of that impacted tooth in between, the front teeth had spread apart, and when I spoke there was a hissing, breathy sound. I had zero interest in orthodontics, but since I work in a job that deals with people face-to-face, I went to get orthodontic treatment because the breathy sound when speaking and the gap looked bad. The impacted tooth in the palate had a deeper root than expected, so they removed it while giving anesthesia in stages. I only had orthodontic treatment on the upper teeth (it took 1 year), and I wore a removable retainer for about 6 to 1 years, and now I have a fixed retainer on the back of my teeth. I didn't get treatment for protrusion or anything like that, so I can't tell if my face changed, but people around me say my face changed a lot (for the better). I've even heard a few times that my teeth look really straight and pretty. I'm satisfied with how things are now.
