I had been worrying for a long time about the part that kept bothering me after contouring surgery 1 (chin tip surgery) at another hospital, so I got double-jaw surgery from Director Shin Hye-jin at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It feels a bit awkward to say this already, but it’s been 2 months since my surgery now! In my early 20s, without much information, I was led by my mom to another clinic and got chin tip surgery there, and afterward I kept feeling dissatisfied because the area from my mouth to my chin looked too tucked in So when I smiled, my mouth area looked older, and my lips had become much thinner, which stressed me out I’ve always really liked smiling, but at some point I started smiling while being conscious of the area around my mouth,, and for about 3 years I couldn’t really take off my mask even in the hot summer. I realized I didn’t want to keep living like that, so I decided to have surgery again! Since this was a revision surgery, there were three main things I considered important when looking for a hospital. The first was that it had to be an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic that handles double-jaw surgery and facial bone surgery, while also being able to provide dental treatment. Since I had already had surgery once before, I wanted to research a bit more thoroughly this time and make my decision. The second was that Director Shin Hye-jin’s aesthetic sense felt like a good match for the direction I wanted! Rather than operating toward one fixed look, I liked the feeling that she naturally balances the overall harmony while considering each person’s face and what they want. I could feel this strongly while looking at many double-jaw and contouring surgery reviews too. The third was the postoperative care system. Double-jaw surgery is important in itself, but the recovery process afterward is also long, so I wanted a place where I could keep checking my progress consistently, and the care system and equipment were well set up, which drew me in!! It’s been 2 months now, and the major swelling has really gone down In particular, when I look at the lower part of my chin from the side, it’s obvious that the swelling has been reduced a lot, and I’m so happy and amazed!! They said the residual swelling can still go down more, so I’m really looking forward to 6 months and 1 year. My double-jaw surgery was done considering the mouth and chin area that had looked tucked in from my previous surgery, so compared with others, I had to wear the wafer for about 3 weeks longer! I wore it as diligently as possible except when eating!! And recently I also started orthodontic treatment. It’s still early in the orthodontic process, so my mouth sometimes gets sore while adjusting, but I’m trying to manage it as well as possible while brushing carefully too. I can’t believe it’s already been two months since surgery; looking back, time seems to have gone by faster than I expected. And there’s one part I remember personally: during the consultation, Director Shin Hye-jin noticed the facial asymmetry around the center of my chin before I even mentioned it She made the surgical plan while taking that into account too, and because of that, at first I didn’t really notice because of the swelling, but now that the swelling has gone down a lot, I can gradually feel how carefully she paid attention to it. I’m touched, and I’m also amazed at her skill(?). I’m still in the 2-month recovery stage, so I’m going to keep watching how the residual swelling goes down and how orthodontics and my bite settle over time. I’ll keep taking care of it steadily, looking forward to how much it will change at 6 months and 1 year. Thank you always, Director Shin Hye-jin
