Advice on Double-Jaw Surgery

I looked into double-jaw surgery for a year before getting it, and since it’s honestly a surgery where safety has to come first, I chose based mainly on safety. But I don’t think I’m that satisfied with the result. It’s been 3-4 years since my surgery. If someone has a really severe case, of course the change is obvious and satisfaction would be high, but in my case even orthodontics was kind of borderline, so I eventually had double-jaw surgery. Honestly, the difference was subtle, so only friends who knew my old face say I changed. Friends I hadn’t seen in a long time probably wouldn’t notice. But when it comes to face shape, no matter what you do, surgery that cuts the bone is ultimately the last possible answer. I wonder how many hospitals really operate with both safety and aesthetics in mind. For surgery that touches bone, the number one priority absolutely has to be safety. It’s an old saying, but people say you can die during bone surgery. There are various cases, like dying because excessive bleeding blocks the airway. I even heard from a hospital roommate that at a large hospital that really focused on safety, someone had been unconscious for several months. Of course it depends on the hospital and the person, case by case, but what I want to say is that even at hospitals focused on safety, these kinds of accidents still happen occasionally. So I wonder how often and how many accidents happen at hospitals that aren’t safety-focused. If you’ve decided to have this surgery, really look into it carefully before doing it. I researched for a year, looked into every possible scenario, studied everything before surgery, and after learning about all the possible things that could happen after surgery, things I might experience, side effects and situations like that, when minor side effects? or discomforts came up, I didn’t feel anxious or flustered. Honestly, I just thought, that can happen. You don’t need to get too scared by the side effects you see in posts, but really study and research a lot, and choose your hospital carefully. It doesn’t cost just a little money, and double-jaw surgery isn’t something where you do it once and that’s it! You also have to get pin-removal surgery, so money keeps going in again and again. Like orthodontics... With orthodontics too, you regularly go to tighten the wires, have to keep wearing retainers, and small costs keep coming up. With double-jaw surgery too, once you do it, there are parts you have to keep paying attention to, so if you look into everything beforehand, it will still help.
