I was unhappy with the asymmetry, the shortened tip of my nose, and the columella line after my first surgery, so I chose the revision clinic very carefully. Since this was a revision, I really wanted to decide carefully this time too, so I went to several clinics for consultations. I visited several places that were known to do well with the columella, and without realizing it, one of them, Dr. Kim Dae-hwa at Rowell Plastic Surgery, was really obsessed with the columella. Looking at my nasal CT, he explained in an easy-to-understand way why the asymmetry had happened and which parts needed correction. I trusted him because he didn’t just push for making the nose higher or more flashy, but talked based on a line that would suit my face. Since this was a revision, the materials used were especially important, and he explained in detail why autologous rib cartilage was used and what advantages a 3D custom implant has, so I felt much more at ease after the consultation. The surgery I had was autologous rib cartilage + 3D custom implant + columella lowering. For the bridge, a 3D custom implant matched to my face was used, and the tip was supported with autologous rib cartilage while the columella lowering was done at the same time. Now, two months later, the swelling is clearly much more reduced than at one month, and the overall nose line has become much more natural. Before, the asymmetry made me worry every time I looked in the mirror, but now even from the front it looks much more balanced, and the side profile has settled into the natural feeling I wanted. What I like most is how well it fits as if it were my original nose. These days, when I take photos, I don’t have to insist on only one side or angle like before, and that’s what satisfies me the most. Seeing the results now, I even think I should have done it here from the beginning. If you’re considering revision because your first nose surgery was disappointing, I think it’s really important to find a clinic that can accurately diagnose your nose condition and is good at revision surgery.
