Nose Re-Surgery

4-month review after removal with very slow recovery

When I went at 2 months to check my progress and compared the photos taken then with the photos from my 4-month follow-up, the difference in swelling was dramatic. Maybe because there was a lot of work done, the swelling seemed to start going down from 3 months after removal. Even now, when I look at the photos, there is still swelling at the nasal tip and beside the nasal bone. A nose with a lot of surgical work done cannot go back to your natural nose even if you remove it 6 months after surgery. Mine is a nose where the nostrils are not visible, but after the tip was lifted, the nostrils became asymmetrical with an angular shape. When the septal extension graft is removed, it seems the remaining septum drops by about 1 mm. The middle part of my nose has somewhat collapsed or lowered, so the step at the tip is a little visible too, but I have just let it go. For now, there is nothing in my nose and not even a thread, so I feel at ease. At the 4-month follow-up, they said it would not change much from this shape and would not collapse, so I felt somewhat reassured, but I still feel anxious sometimes. After passing 2 months, I started sleeping on my side, and the crawling bug-like sensation in my nose began to disappear. Even after the contraction phase ended at 3 months, the swelling did not go down, so I started warm compresses again. I am still doing them around my nose 3 times a day. As it has come close to 4 months, the pulling in my nose from yawning or sneezing and so on has lessened. Even now, when I pull on my forehead, philtrum, or cheeks, the skin on my nose stretches and feels uncomfortable. The skin on my nose feels wrinkled and cracked, and I do not know whether it will ever go back. My makeup still does not sit well, and my nostrils are still sometimes firm and sometimes soft in the morning and evening. I am going through the hardest year of my life. I also thought about grinding down dermis or cartilage to supplement things during removal, but after reading posts from people looking into removal, I decided on complete removal. Now my mind is at ease, but the shape is not good. I am not thinking about it now, but I am scared that if I cannot adapt in the future, I might look into revision surgery. Please, let it stabilize with no more distortion, and once I adapt too, let me do it. Everyone, hang in there and make sure to research the hospital well. One tip is not to believe everything the doctor says. I trusted and had it removed, but I could not go back to my natural nose and there are many things I am unhappy with. I am now thinking of going to dermatology, dentistry, and other places, but I keep wondering by myself whether it is too early or whether I should wait longer. The doctor says I can exercise and do anything, but the feeling that my nose is being pulled has not gone away yet, and sometimes it feels heavy. Let us all remove it well, recover well, and live our everyday lives. Better days will come, right? All photos are from 4 months after removal.
