The surgery was in January 2024, and I decided rather impulsively. My vision was not completely bad, around 0.2, but wearing glasses was inconvenient, and I happened to have a long vacation, so I decided to do it. Ten years ago, my younger brother had surgery at this hospital, so I went without much thought and had the examination on the same day. The conditions were all good, including corneal thickness and dryness, so I had surgery that same day. After the surgery there was no particular pain, and while being careful for about a week and checking my corrected vision, guess what. Everyone else was seeing 1.0 or 1.5, but I was only getting about 0.5. I was expecting SMILE LASIK to have a quick recovery, so I had high hopes, but the doctor told me to wait and see. After that, my vision did not improve at each regular checkup. In the last consultation, they said it might be undercorrection, but that I should watch it for a year, and if there was no improvement, I would need PRK as a reoperation. It has now been 2 years, and my corrected vision is still only 0.4 to 0.5. It was a more disappointing surgery than I expected.
