I had such extremely severe astigmatism that I gave up on vision correction with contacts, and even my glasses had to be custom-made just so I could find them after a few days. The exam results said I could choose between SMILE LASIK and LASEK, but I was told LASEK is much more effective for astigmatism correction, so I chose LASEK. Since I also had amblyopia, I had corneal strengthening treatment as well (I still do not know what the effect of corneal strengthening really is lol). During the consultation I was told that because of the amblyopia, my vision would probably only improve to around 0.7, so I went ahead with the surgery thinking that even that would be something. In the end, my left eye improved to about 1.3 and my right eye to about 1.0, so one year later I am doing fine. I still do not have glare, but my eyes are quite dry. Still, since my friends who had it done at other hospitals got the same result for a cheaper price, I do wonder whether there was really any need to do it here.
