Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

They say my jaw surgery made my eyes bigger lol

I had an underbite where my lower teeth protruded much more than my upper teeth, plus asymmetry, so when I took photos or spoke, I would unconsciously cover my chin and mouth. Also, when editing photos, I ended up doing a lot of edits to pull my chin in, and as a result my self-esteem felt lower, and my jaw felt like such a major flaw that I decided on orthognathic surgery. I had consultations at two places and chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. What I focused on when looking at hospitals was whether the surgery was not factory-style but entirely done by the director, and how safe it was. At Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the director does only one surgery a day and has more than 20 years of experience and thousands of cases, so I felt I could trust them and chose the hospital. So on February 3, I had orthognathic surgery and contouring surgery for two areas, the square jaw and chin! After surgery, I heard a lot from people here and there that my face had become smaller and softer. My eyes were originally on the large side, but because my jaw had been covering them, after surgery my friends even asked whether I had eye surgery because my eyes looked bigger. <Day of surgery> I was told that if I was late, the surgery might not be possible, so I arrived 30 minutes earlier than the original 9:30 time and waited at the hospital from 9:00. I kept trembling with nerves until surgery, then went into the operating room, inhaled the anesthesia gas, and when I opened my eyes I was on the bed. I do not even remember how I got onto the bed..haha The first day after surgery, it was truly hard to breathe, so I could not sleep at all. At dawn I complained to the nurse that I could not breathe, and she responded so kindly, told me how to solve it, and I was truly grateful. <Day 2> After the drain in my mouth and the tube in my nose were removed, breathing became a bit easier, so I walked around the hospital a lot. Starting on day 2, I was so hungry that I drank all the New Care protein drinks provided by the hospital and got extra ones to drink haha <Day 3> I had a final checkup with the director and was discharged. My face was still very swollen and I was getting some nosebleeds, so it was difficult, but I tried to follow the post-op care instructions given by the hospital while looking forward to how I would change. <Week 1> The director personally disinfected the area at the hospital, and I had written down on my phone notes what I had been curious about over the week, and they explained everything well, so I was very grateful. During that first week, whenever I ate or gargled, I felt my face reflected in the mirror looked so much like Shin-chan, so I kept using hot and cold compresses a lot. <Week 2> From week 2, I could see the swelling slowly going down, so I walked 5 to 6 km every day at a fast pace. Then the major swelling really went down quickly. I spent my days thinking about getting the stitches out and being able to switch the wafer in and out while eating soft foods. <Visit in week 2> Finally, the stitches were removed at the hospital!! It stung for a moment when they were taken out, but I felt happy because I knew I would be happy soon, so even though it hurt, I was in a good mood. After removing the stitches, I changed the rubber bands and practiced putting them on. At first my gums were still swollen, so there was some bleeding and it was hard, but it got better as I kept doing it. Now I can eat soft food instead of just drinks, but there is not much I cannot do~~ <1 month> I have already become a master at putting the rubber bands on and taking them off. There is no pain at all now, breathing is completely fine, and all I care about is wanting the swelling to go down as soon as possible and eat delicious food! On the first day after surgery, I kept wondering whether I could endure a whole month, but looking back now, the month passed incredibly fast. I wish I had had the surgery even earlier, and that is something I regret.. If you are afraid of surgery and worried about whether you can handle it, I think you should go ahead and have it!
