Before surgery I had a prognathic jaw, so my face also looked long... and because of my malocclusion, the asymmetry was a concern. My face overall felt long and heavy. The functional issues were uncomfortable too, but the outward appearance stress was bigger, so I eventually went through with surgery. After surgery, people around me kept saying my face looked smaller. I also often heard that my side profile had improved a lot compared with before, and as my bite lined up, I felt chewing had become a little easier than before too. So the externally visible changes were definitely noticeable, and I was satisfied with that. But there were also some uncomfortable points. Around 5 months, I felt about half satisfied and half disappointed, and my appearance satisfaction was around 60 percent. I was not completely unhappy, but I also wasn't at the level of being hugely satisfied. Still, things improved more and more over time. Around 9 months, the side line looked more refined, and because I kept hearing that my face looked smaller, I started to like it more. After the pins were removed, the clicking sound from my jaw bone that had been there since before surgery seemed to become a little less noticeable. However, the right-side asymmetry was still hard to judge because of swelling, so I felt I needed to watch it a bit longer. At 1 year, the swelling after pin removal had gone down a lot, and the overall line had become much more natural than before. My sensation still hasn't fully returned, but the clicking sound in my jaw joint is also slightly less frequent, and overall I am satisfied. The malocclusion, prognathic jaw, asymmetry, and long chin I worried about before surgery have all improved a lot compared with before, so this is now a review that leans more toward satisfaction than dissatisfaction.
