Day 11 Review After Removal for Contracted Nose

It’s still early, so I’m being cautious, but I know how desperate I was during the past days, so I’m posting this!

I had it done at a hospital specializing in removal, not my original hospital!

My condition before was a severe contracted nose. It had only been 8 months since my surgery, but it seems like contracture started almost right after the surgery. It wasn’t grotesque-looking, but my columella was very retracted and my nose looked shriveled. No matter how much I searched this community, I couldn’t find a case like mineㅠㅠ So I’m writing this in hopes it can be even a little helpful..! Anyway, I worried a lot about whether it wouldn’t come down with removal alone and whether I would need reconstruction. Since I’m from Busan, I only had consultations at two places and made my decision.. Hospital 1 said removal alone would not be enough and that I needed revision surgery. Hospital 2 said full removal was possible, but I could not go back to my original nose. However, they said there did seem to be room for improvement compared with now. Revision surgery was also an option, but even with revision surgery, it was uncertain whether it would come down completely, so considering cost and various factors, removal seemed more reasonable.

I did consider reconstruction, but I had seen occasional cases where inflammation and contracture reactions occurred even without implants. Since I had already developed severe contracture, I thought there was no guarantee it wouldn’t happen again with that either. So I decided to first undergo full removal, and if I really didn’t like it, I would wait and then have revision surgery. With that thought, I proceeded with full removal at Hospital 2.

Because my nose condition was not good, I had cotton packing in until the day the splint was removed, and because it overlapped with the holiday, I had the cotton and splint removed on day 10 after surgery! For now, it seems to have come down quite a bit,, The director also said it had come down a lot and that the progress was good. My parents, especially my father, were very worried, but he said it has gotten much closer to my original nose, looks much better, and that it would be nice if it came down just a little more haha. I think it will come down a bit more as the swelling subsides,, I’m scared of the contraction phaseㅠ Also, the director said columellar retraction is much harder to resolve than upturning, but so far I’m satisfied with this degree of columella. I just hope it doesn’t retract any furtherㅠㅠ

My nose is too swollen right now, so I’ll upload photos when I write a review after a month or two!

Lastly.. Even during consultations, I was told my contracture was on the severe side, and no matter where I looked in this community, I couldn’t find anyone with a case like mine who only had removal, so I was very worried.. But even someone like me is satisfied to some extent. Honestly, you only know after 6 months, so I may be dissatisfied then,, But for those who are desperately looking for even one review, I’m posting this early-stage review first! Everyone, stay strong..!!

+ At first, I said I wouldn’t share the hospital because I was worried you might decide too hastily, but I removed that part because I do hope you at least go for a consultation..! If you’re curious about the hospital, I’ll let you know, but please, please make sure to have a consultation before deciding!! If you have any other questions, ask and I’ll answer them.
