This is long. This is a post about a failed revision rhinoplasty in Gwangju, and I’m asking for help My first surgery failed, so for the second revision I had the silicone replaced and had nasal tip surgery. Before surgery, they said they would open it first and use the septal cartilage if I had any, and if not, they would use some material for the nasal tip, but I didn’t hear the specific name of the material... After sleep anesthesia, they did local anesthesia, and I woke up during surgery while the procedure was still going on. The problem started after I woke up... When I woke up, they said there was no septal cartilage, so they had to use some material for the nasal tip, and for some reason the doctor started acting irritated from then on... Phlegm was going down my throat and I couldn’t breathe, so I told them, but the doctor snapped at me and told me to just swallow it. I absolutely couldn’t swallow it and couldn’t breathe, so after getting angry and struggling, it seems like the nurse somehow handled it with a tube... With my hands tied, my nose open, and unable to breathe because of the phlegm, the doctor’s reaction was so scary and I was so tense I felt like I was going to cry... Maybe because I was so tense, the bleeding wouldn’t stop, and the doctor got extremely irritated and angry, telling me to relax He kept scaring me, saying what would I do if the nose didn’t come out pretty, and what if a problem happened at this rate, damn it. In the operating room, the doctor is the one holding the scalpel, so I was really terrified that something might actually go wrong, all kinds of thoughts ran through my mind, and for now I kept saying sorry and barely held myself together to get through the surgery. Somehow the surgery ended, and in the recovery room, at that time I really felt like I had survived after almost dying If it had only been like that during surgery and the result had been good, it would have just been a happening, but the worst part was after surgery From the time I could check inside my nose with my own eyes after surgery, I could see severe scar tissue on one side. I thought since it wasn’t visible from the outside, I’d just let it go... From the time I could clean and touch the inside of my nose myself, I could feel something protruding on the opposite side from the scar tissue, maybe ear cartilage I also let this go because it wasn’t visible... In fact, the reason I tried to rationalize it and just move on without challenging the doctor was that from before the consultation, to entering the operating room, during the surgery, and even after, they treated me like an extremely sensitive person But isn’t it natural to have lots of questions and worries when you don’t want a revision surgery to fail?? When I first sensed that, I should have just not done it, but people around me said this place was the best in Gwangju, and at the time I wasn’t in a situation where I could go to Seoul, so I just did it, and now I regret it so much Leaving aside the invisible scar tissue and cartilage problem inside the nose, from right after the nose surgery, I couldn’t breathe well through the left side where the scar tissue was. Even after enough time had passed for all the swelling to go down, I still couldn’t breathe well through my left nostril When I told the doctor, he again said I was sensitive, ignored me, and said the surgery went perfectly fine with no problem, asking if I was just sensitive... My chest felt tight too, and since I couldn’t breathe well through the left side of my nose as if it were blocked, I felt like I was going crazy. But I thought maybe I really was being sensitive and time might heal it, so I decided to wait... I really endured the discomfort of not being able to breathe while thinking that way for about a year? Then one day, I felt something on the left side of my nose, the side I couldn’t breathe through. The implant material they said they would put in as support for the nasal tip had pierced through the inside of my nose and come out. From then on, I thought, so the reason I haven’t been able to breathe well since surgery until now was because of this material, something went wrong. When I visited the hospital, they said they had never seen a case like this and instead asked me if I had experienced some kind of impact I answered that I hadn’t... Regardless of who was right or wrong, the doctor did not even consider the assumption that this kind of side effect could happen from the surgery Only then did I learn that the material used in the nasal tip was mesh... According to the doctor, mesh dissolves inside the nose, so I could just live with it, but he said he would at least remove the exposed part. They did local anesthesia completely raw, and I thought I was going to die from the pain He said if he removed too much forcibly, the nose shape would be ruined, so he removed an appropriate amount of the exposed part, stitched it, and for a week? or several days, I again lived with something placed inside my nose. A few days passed, and when I went to have something like a support and cotton removed from inside, he said this probably wouldn’t happen again now, and since it was a dissolvable material, it would be okay. After receiving that treatment, some more time passed, and then again it felt like the mesh was piercing down through the inside of my nose. It wasn’t my nasal tissue, but something hard I could feel, so I went back to the hospital and told them. He roughly glanced with a flashlight and said this was probably because the wound he had stitched recently had hardened, told me not to touch it, said it would dissolve on its own, and scolded me for being so sensitive again I was scared, so I said okay, that I would wait and see if it was a wound, apologized, and came home Later, even after enough time had passed for the wound to fully heal, I could still feel something hard like an implant in that spot. When I checked in the mirror, the area where part of the mesh had been removed recently had a sharp torn-off mesh shape and was piercing through the flesh and coming down again In utter despair, I thought maybe I should wait because he said it would dissolve. After a few days, that part broke off and came out, and after that pieces also came out from the nasal support area. It was unbelievable For now, the parts I could see and feel had fallen out, and since the doctor said it would dissolve, I decided to wait that time out. Since then, for more than a year up until now, mesh has repeatedly pierced out and fallen off from that spot as time passed, over and over. For the pieces that fell out, if I could confirm them with the naked eye, I took photos and kept them. During that time, there was no inflammatory reaction, so I tried hard to ignore it and just let time pass, thinking if it all dissolved, it wouldn’t come out anymore and my breathing would get better... Recently, this time as it pierced out, it seems like an inflammatory reaction developed My nose seems to be getting more and more crooked as the mesh pierces out I went to internal medicine, got an injection, got antibiotics, and only now I’m looking into total removal. My husband says I should go to that hospital, protest, and make them do it, but I don’t even want to see that doctor again, it’s obvious communication won’t work, and rather than getting stressed, I thought I’d just pay and have it removed somewhere else. But after looking into removal and then revision surgery afterward, the cost is so terrifyingly huge that I feel so wronged, angry, and like I’m going crazy. I’m in despair because I really don’t know what to do I feel like I’m going to develop a mental illness, really I’m so depressed I’m wondering if in a case like this, I can receive a surgical fee refund or compensation for damages or anything like that. If anyone knows well, please answer Is there no way?? Please help
