Eye Surgery Reviews

Review of Kim Han-seong

I had my consultation yesterday at 6 p.m., the last time slot. Overall, Kim Han-seong felt less like the image people usually have of a plastic surgery clinic and more like a small clinic in the countryside. Because of that, the atmosphere was warm and quite comfortable. Maybe because it was the last slot, the director greeted me kindly and cheerfully, which made me feel good. The consultation went in the order of director > head manager~

After asking about the purpose of surgery and the direction of the changes I wanted, they gave me a realistic(..) assessment. So they tended to suggest relatively conservative surgical methods. Because of that, I don’t think it would suit people who want dramatic changes or who want to have a lot of things done boldly. But I was extremely!!! satisfied with the director’s consultation. Personally, I want a glamorous line, but that was only my own greed. Realistically, considering what suits me and my eye shape, I knew very well that the best choice would be to make it as thin and natural as possible On top of that, because of my family history and my eye-pressure issue, it was hard for me to go through with a lot of procedures~ Because of that, I was also scared to have the courage to undergo multiple surgeries myself The problem was that it was hard to accept that emotionally, but here, the director proactively brought up those points first and helped me judge things realistically, which I appreciated.

They recommended incisional / incisional + ptosis correction (best) / non-incisional ptosis correction. Since most clinics recommended incision, I had already somewhat made up my mind that I would need incision, but because it was my first surgery, I wanted non-incisional if possible, so I asked whether non-incisional was difficult or simply not recommended. They explained in an easy-to-understand way how my eye structure is, whether my eyelids are thick or thin, and what the distance is between my brows and my eyes, and said that incision would be better. So I could easily understand the surgical method the director suggested.

I also asked about things like epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty, and they checked the distance between the brows and the spaces for canthal widening with a ruler. They said not doing them would be better in terms of cost and wouldn’t have a dramatic effect anyway, so they didn’t recommend them~ In particular, I wavered because many places recommend doing a slight epicanthoplasty, but here they said both the inner corners of my eyes already line up perfectly with the width of my nostrils, and they confirmed it for me So I gave up on that

I was especially very scared about ptosis correction. The director said that because my eyes are uneven and my eyelids cover a lot of the eyes, combining it would be a bit better, but when I said I was afraid of side effects or problems with my eyes, they said that in that case I should get tested for eye pressure, diseases, dry eye syndrome, and so on, or that incision alone would be enough to make my eyes look clearer, so incision alone would be fine. Also, including the consultation manager, this was the only place that explained realistic side effects related to ptosis correction. They said side effects such as headaches, lagophthalmos, dizziness, and dry eye syndrome could occur. They also told me that if I did ptosis correction, even if it were later reversed, it would be difficult to return to my original eye shape, so I should decide carefully. That made me trust them a lot more! At that moment I definitely felt that this place had a strong safety-oriented and conservative tendency~ They answered every question carefully and waited comfortably so I could ask anything, so I was very satisfied with the consultation.

The consultation with the head manager was also good~ She didn’t have the polished, glamorous look like people at some other places. She looked natural, and because she was a little older, it felt like talking with a close auntie. So I could comfortably talk about all sorts of surgery-related worries and even chat about unrelated things~ Rather than pushing me to do surgery a certain way, she strongly helped me think through the concerns I had and decide more easily!

In particular, I was worried because I had to have surgery and then go to work the very next day because of my job, and she spoke about that realistically too She said the stitches and incision marks would all still be there, so it would be hard, but was that okay? and that after a few days I’d bruise yellow and it would show, so was that okay? And since I look at a computer a lot while working, dry eyes could also be a problem... To slightly exaggerate, she checked so carefully that it felt like she was thinking more carefully about my eyes than I was.

So I was satisfied with the head manager’s consultation too. Of course, there was no push for same-day booking, but there was no discount either. They told me incisional 130 + 10% VAT / incisional + ptosis correction 150 + 10% VAT, and after checking the quotes I got from various consultations, it seemed like this place charges exactly that price no matter what. There may be slight differences depending on canthal widening or fat removal... but incisional / incisional + ptosis correction seemed fixed.

Anyway, in conclusion, I would not recommend it for people who want a glamorous line or a dramatic change in image and improvement. I would recommend it for people who want surgery but are worried that doing too many things might cause problems, or for people who want a natural line and want to get a consultation~

Also, the aftercare was the best, and they clearly explained what would happen on the visit days, which made them feel trustworthy. (Aftercare involves visits on day 1 / 3 / 5, and day 1 and day 5 are mandatory. On day 3, if the swelling is severe, they do additional treatment such as swelling injections. After that, they said they would check at 1 month / 3 months / 6 months, and in between, if swelling or scarring is severe, they would also give injections.)

I still plan to visit 2 more places, so I haven’t booked yet, but so far this is the one I like the most! I felt that this doctor could definitely minimize side effects and other concerns I was worried about. But if I think about the aesthetic side too, it doesn’t seem like my face would look especially pretty at the level I hope for~ or that my eyes would look especially clear and open~ I don’t think that kind of result would happen. (So for now I’m definitely leaning toward here... but honestly, if I look only at the final result, there are other places I like more)

So my expectations for the surgery are on the lower side.
