I only watched videos on YouTube before going there for a consultation. They took photos from the front, 45 degrees, 90 degrees, and looking up at the ceiling. While waiting in the consultation room, I filled out the medical chart on an iPad with a nurse? I wrote everything down in detail, and after that the doctor came in. I put on a headband, held a mirror, and opened and closed my eyes. They said it was a forehead lift case. They said to hold my forehead with both hands and it would feel like this. They said the eyebrows would go up 4 mm, the forehead in the front would go up 2 mm, and in total the hairline would move back 6 mm. They said my forehead is currently on the narrow side, so it would actually be better for the proportions if my forehead became a bit wider. I asked about eyebrow asymmetry, and they said that unlike at LaBom, it should be done by matching the symmetry, so I was a bit confused. At another hospital, they said the right cheekbone is larger and the eyes are bigger compared to the left side of the face, and that if you force the eyebrows to match symmetrically, it could actually make things more crooked, so the eyebrows should just be lifted as they are... I told them that my face axis is rotated to the left, but they said when I tilt my head up, the left side of my forehead protrudes more while the right side is actually sunken in, the left cheekbone is also bigger, and the right side is smaller, but the jaw on the left is actually smaller... Haha lol I’m not an expert, so I don’t really know... Anyway, I guess that’s how it is... They said this is probably the only hospital that takes photos from so many angles and looks at them like this. They showed many before-and-after photos of patients while explaining. They said because everything keeps coming down until one month, overcorrection is necessary, and that after one month it keeps staying lifted. They also showed cases of patients 5 years out. Zoom. I asked whether the surgery could improve the developed glabellar muscles and whether I would need Botox later, and they said Botox would be good. But they also said you’d have to see after the surgery, though the glabellar muscle prominence isn’t that severe anyway. I asked what happens to smiling with the eyes and facial expressions after surgery, and they said the brows can move up and down, but because they cut the corrugator muscle in the glabella area, movement around the glabella and eye area would be difficult. They told me to hold my eyebrows and smile, saying it would feel like this... hmm They said the feeling would probably be a bit different from before. I asked whether the existing partial-incision double eyelids could come undone, and they said it can happen rarely, but probably not. I also asked whether the inner corner surgery could open up more in the future, and they said rather than that, it would look more like upper canthoplasty, with more of the red area in front of the eyes showing. I’m on a diet, so I asked whether what’s been lifted could come back down, and they said the chance is almost none; with a face lift that could happen, but if I lose a lot of weight then the upper eyelids might look hollow because the brows are lifted upward I asked whether if the midface gets longer it could ruin the facial proportions, and they said my face isn’t long, actually it’s more of a round face I’ve lived all this time thinking my face was long... They said because my forehead is on the narrow side, this surgery would actually widen it and make the proportions better... When I asked, ‘I’m not a difficult case, right?’ they confidently said they don’t have difficult cases Oh... I could feel the confidence and certainty... They said the difficult case is when someone with a wide forehead comes in and asks for a forehead lift without forehead reduction, while not wanting the forehead to get any wider. Anything besides that isn’t difficult, they said... When I asked whether there would be diplopia or reduced vision, they said that with the dual-plane lift they designed, the chance of those side effects drops significantly, so you can basically think they almost never happen. They also said dry eyes could make things look double because of dry eye syndrome. But after looking at the photo of my eyes closed, they said it seemed fine because there was enough skin. They said quite a lot of people can’t fully close their eyes. They said the incision would be made in 4 areas, and they wouldn’t use a blood drain bag separately. Surgery time is about 1 hour. After I asked the doctor a barrage of questions, the consultation manager came in, and I felt their attitude was somehow professional. They were kind. They said luckily the doctor had told them it was a forehead-lift case, and among the patients that came today there were also people who weren’t forehead-lift cases, so they had a hard time sending them back and persuading them lol I don’t know if that’s true. They said not to take the supplements I’m currently taking for 7 days before surgery and not to take them for 3 days after surgery. They also said hair dye and perm solution are strong, so I should do that 7 days before surgery, and only after 6 weeks after surgery. Because it irritates the scalp... I heard explanations like that. They explained possible side effects after forehead-lift surgery, and swelling over time, etc. They also explained the 10% reservation deposit and the refund policy. Unlike LaBom, the reservation deposit here was refundable. We also talked about the expected surgery schedule, and they said November is the off-season so I shouldn’t worry, I’d probably be able to book the day I want and should take my time looking around for consultations. I’m taking minoxidil, and when I mentioned that, they were very happy. They said it’s more reassuring for the hospital too. Anyway... I went expecting a long wait, but the consultation was fast with almost no waiting. Seeing the doctor in person after only watching him on YouTube felt like seeing a celebrity, and I liked how confidently and certainly he spoke. I was worried he might look tired because it was afternoon, but he seemed better than I expected. He said faces can’t become twins, they should be thought of as sisters, and that asymmetry can’t be completely corrected. I found that explanation about asymmetry memorable. I had been thinking about LaBom and Taylor as the top two options, but the number of incision sites, whether eyebrow asymmetry can be improved, whether a blood drain bag is needed, and how much the impression would change are all different, so I think I need to think about it more...
