The title is provocative, but I really did open my nose 6 times.
1st try In 2009, the year I turned 20, silicone only
2nd try The silicone from the 1st try was too thick, so after just 2 weeks, I had it replaced and added ear cartilage to the nasal tip --- Up to this point, my nasal bridge was almost in a straight line with my forehead, like the Na'vi from Avatar---
3rd try In 2010, removed the silicone and left only the ear cartilage in the nasal tip
4th try In 2014, silicone + additional ear cartilage harvest
5th try In 2019, silicone replacement + alar reduction + additional septal/ear cartilage harvest (open approach)
That was my nose... The 1st and 2nd tries were at Samsung Medical Center because I knew someone there The 3rd was somewhere in Bupyeong, Incheon The 4th was at a plastic surgery clinic in Guwol-dong, Incheon (I was seriously stressed) The 5th was the only open surgery, done at a place near Sinsa Station
In the end, I lived very satisfied with the result of my 5th surgery, but... There was always a subtle feeling of pressure from the silicone, and as time passed, the skin on my nasal tip got thinner, so the ear cartilage started showing through sharply.
Eventually, this year, 6 years after my last surgery, I went back to the hospital where I had that final surgery, and had the silicone removed, with the ear cartilage placed on the nasal tip slightly trimmed and repositioned. (Not a hospital famous for revision/removal or a nose-specialized clinic)
As a result, from the day of surgery until now, day 6, I have had almost no swelling, close to 0%. If anything, from day 5, a tiny bit of yellow bruising appeared on the nasal tip.
In the past, when I had surgery, even when just removing silicone, I got lots of bruising under my eyes and under my chin, and the swelling was tight and puffy Maybe because I no longer smoke or drink now, recovery is quick.
Now that the silicone is gone, there is definitely a sense of loss... there is But the harmony with my face is much better~~ My original nose was really, really severely low and wide, and the columella was slightly retracted too, so I left the ear cartilage and septal support in place, and I think that was a good call It is much better than my natural nose.
Tomorrow I’m going to get the stitches removed~~ Today I removed the taping at home in advance, and my 11-year-old son said... “Your prettiness score went down, but you look that much younger. Hang in there”
Of course, since I had quite a bit of discomfort from the silicone (no contracture, no inflammation), the pressure is gone, the eye pain is gone, and it feels so light and refreshing, so I’m very satisfied.
It seems like many people are worried while considering removal, so I’m sharing my experience to encourage you: even a case like mine, where the nose had been opened multiple times, finished surgery safely.
