I feel like there aren’t many reviews about double-jaw surgery compared to other procedures, so I’m writing this because I think even one more review could help someone. I had double-jaw surgery in June 2020. I had a severe protruding lower jaw, so I was teased a lot from a young age, and for me it was honestly such a huge complex that I felt like I wanted to die. I lived with so much stress because of it, so I got the surgery. I also had malocclusion, so I did it together with orthodontic treatment!!
Thinking back, I was hospitalized for 3 days, and I didn’t feel much physical pain. It was just kind of numb/tingly? About that much? I’m not sure if it was because of the painkillers or because the psychological distress was worse, but the psychological distress was really enormous. I couldn’t breathe well,, It was so hard that I remember crying at dawn on the last day before discharge,, For reference, you can’t get a painless injection for double-jaw surgery!!! I also couldn’t really eat properly for about a month, so I was 54 kg at the time, and I remember dropping to 45 kg.
Also, I had two wisdom teeth, so I had them removed during the surgery too! It was nice not having to go separately to get my wisdom teeth removed hehe Right now, my side effects are inward curling of the inside of my lips, nasal widening, and sagging flesh under the lower jaw. Honestly, when getting cosmetic surgery, I went in prepared for some degree of side effects, and these are things I can manage and cover to some extent, so I’m grateful just that I didn’t develop any dangerous side effects! Anyway, other than not being able to breathe, nothing major happened to me! But not being able to breathe really was extremely hard ㅠㅠ I still don’t really like my face, and there are parts that stress me out, but once my biggest complex disappeared, life became livable!!
