I started in September 2019 and had partial orthodontic treatment for 1 year. The reason I got orthodontic treatment was because of my bunny front teeth. Before that, I had thought about getting veneers, but life is long, and that felt too much like....a short-term move? so I couldn't easily bring myself to do itㅠ So I kept putting it off and putting it off, then went thinking, let's just try partial orthodontic treatment on the front teeth!
But when I went to the clinic and listened to the dentist, I found out that for 2n years I thought my front teeth were bunny teeth, but it turns out they were butterfly teeth. Finding out the bunny was actually a butterfly felt exactly like finding out you'd been mistaken about your blood type? The problem is that butterfly teeth are apparently a more difficult? case to correct. But luckily, there was enough space to allow tooth movement, so orthodontic treatment was possible.
So I think you really have to get a dental consultation to know about orthodontic treatment. In my head before going to the dentist, the orthodontic treatment was already all finished, but when you actually go to the dentist, you don't even know whether orthodontic treatment will be possible or not.
Anyway, the total period was planned as 10 months, and I proceeded with partial lingual orthodontic treatment. Oh, lingual orthodontic treatment was purely my choice! (Actually, because I was doing lingual orthodontics, whether there would be enough space inside my mouth was more important) At that time, I really hated the thought of orthodontic appliances showing on the outside, and back then the great COVID era had not yet begun, so would I ever have imagined wearing a mask or anything like that? So even though it cost twice as much as regular orthodontics, I insisted on doing it lingually. Of course, thanks to that, no one knew I was undergoing orthodontic treatment the whole time. Oh, for reference, this is a little different from clear aligners. With clear aligners, you can put the appliance in and take it out, but this attaches the orthodontic appliance itself to the back side of the teeth. That's why you can't see the appliance when looking from the front. (So if you tilt your head back and open your mouth wide, it shows. For example, when you drink alcohol and go a bit overboard with a kya~?) As I was writing, this got really long!
