Two-jaw surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery - this is my 1-month review!!! It’s already been a month since I had surgery with Director Shin! Since childhood, I was teased because of malocclusion and a protruding lower jaw. From then on, my complex about my appearance became severe, so I always covered my face with my hair and avoided taking photos. I even developed the unconscious habit of keeping my mouth slightly open because I thought my protruding jaw might look less noticeable.. I hated seeing myself like that, and with a desperate desire to change myself, I finally made a big decision and decided to undergo two-jaw surgery. I also strongly wanted to resolve not only appearance-related concerns, but pronunciation and occlusion problems as wellㅠㅠ The biggest reason I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery among the hospitals was its close collaborative system between the orthodontics department and the oral and maxillofacial surgery department! I had consultations at several hospitals, but most of them said surgery could be done right away or told me to find an orthodontic clinic separately after surgery. In contrast, at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, they carefully analyzed the condition of my teeth and jawbones and clearly pointed out that pre-surgical orthodontic treatment was absolutely necessary to correct the molar spacing and occlusion issues. This systematic approach, accurately diagnosing each patient’s individual condition and creating a safe plan without overdoing it, left a very strong impression on me, and I gained trust in the medical team’s expertise and attentiveness! So I chose EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Director Shin as the hospital I could trust with the entire process, from orthodontic treatment to surgery and recovery~! On day 1, swelling, pain, and breathing were the hardest, but thanks to the medical team’s attentive care, I was able to stabilize! On days 2-3, I had nasal congestion, pain, and changes in facial color, but I gradually showed signs of recovery, and after day 3, when the swelling was the worst, I could clearly feel the change in my face. I was satisfied because my lower jawline had gone in naturally!!!! On days 4-5, I had decreased stamina and temporary hair loss, but as the swelling went down, I could really feel that I was recovering. On days 6-7, the change was so clear that people around me were already saying my face had gotten smaller, which made me so happy, and what remained was nerve recovery rather than pain. By week 2, my pronunciation and facial expressions had become more natural, and I had recovered enough to go out without a mask, so I returned to daily life!!! Compared with before surgery, my face size and midface proportions definitely became more harmonious, so I was satisfied with both the functional and aesthetic improvements. As I look at the changes in the mirror day by day, my confidence is recovering, and my certainty and satisfaction about the surgery are growing, and finally, now at 1 month!!! A lot of the major facial swelling has gone down, so I feel like the overall contour is taking shape, but there is still some residual swelling in my cheeks, so I still have a cute squirrel-like feelingㅋㅋㅋ Now I can put on and take off the wafer, so I can eat soft foods like seaweed soup or tofu rice to some extent. The inside of my mouth is still a little swollen, but rice is actually easier to eat than noodles because food gets stuck less. While eating, it feels like my dental midline is slightly off, so I’m going to have the director check it carefully at my next outpatient visit. Oh, and because I’ve been looking in the mirror often these days due to being satisfied with my post-surgery face, people around me gave me the cute nickname “mirror princess” haha. My sensation hasn’t fully returned yet, but every time I look in the mirror, I can see my face shape becoming more and more natural, so I feel proud and amazed! These days, I really feel that my recovery is going smoothly because the swelling goes down and I can feel changes day by day!!! This is my 1-month review after personally experiencing why everyone on apps or in communities calls Director Shin a god-like directorㅋㅋㅋ~
