Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews@jaw-review

5 months after double-jaw surgery, review of recovery and occlusal stabilization

It has already been 5 months since I received double-jaw surgery from Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Dental Hospital. When I first decided on surgery, I had a lot of fear and worries, but now I’m getting results so satisfying that all those concerns feel unnecessary, so I’m leaving this review. Since childhood, I had a problem commonly called a protruding lower jaw (Class III malocclusion). Every time I went to the dentist, orthodontic treatment or double-jaw surgery was recommended, but I had put it off because I did not feel much discomfort. Then after becoming an adult, my temporomandibular joint pain became severe when eating, and I saw severe facial asymmetry in the mirror, so I ultimately decided on surgery. Because I thought the most important purpose of double-jaw surgery was not simply cosmetic but restoring proper occlusion, I focused on oral and maxillofacial surgery rather than plastic surgery clinics. Among them, EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery had a well-established collaboration system with the orthodontics department, so communication was smooth before and after surgery. Thanks to Director Shin Hee-jin’s extensive surgical experience and meticulous diagnosis, I was able to entrust myself with peace of mind. Among the several hospitals I visited for consultations, the decisive reason was that they explained things in the most conservative and accurate way, which gave me trust. Now that 5 months have passed since surgery, looking back on the recovery process, I feel that everything is stabilizing really quickly. At first, the swelling was severe and the sensation around my jaw and mouth was dull, so I worried a lot, but from months 2 to 3 it improved noticeably, and now almost all the swelling has gone down and a natural facial line has settled in. In particular, the double chin I had right after surgery disappeared completely, making my side profile line cleaner, and both my family and acquaintances say that when they compare before and after double-jaw surgery, my impression really became softer. Most of all, the biggest change is the stabilization of my bite. Before surgery, food was difficult to chew, so meals took a long time, but now, thanks to the post-surgical orthodontic process, my teeth fit together exactly and I can eat hard foods without any problem. Especially because I can chew meat and tough foods without burden, my satisfaction with meals has really increased. Since my chewing force has stabilized, there is no strain on my jaw, and I clearly feel a comfort I could not feel before. The recovery speed was also faster than expected. Currently, I have no discomfort at all during exercise or activities, and there is no disruption to daily life. People around me also compliment me a lot, saying it looks very natural, so I’ve gained even more confidence, and when I look at myself in photos, I’m satisfied and feel that deciding on surgery was truly the right choice. What I really want to tell those considering double-jaw surgery is that you should not think only about appearance, but also consider functional improvement. Through this surgery, my chewing function, breathing, and temporomandibular joint pain all improved, and at the same time the external change also occurred naturally. If anyone, like me, is struggling with a protruding lower jaw, malocclusion, or facial asymmetry, I recommend consulting with Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. For me, it was truly a choice without regret, and the changes I have now prove that. If you are looking for a hospital that is good at double-jaw surgery, I think EU Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery will definitely be a good choice!
