1-month review of chin advancement surgery (two-stage osteotomy) at Yang Yun-dol Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic The reason I decided to have surgery was that protruding mouth had always been a complex for me, so I wanted orthodontic treatment, but it was difficult financially. After thinking it over, since I also have a recessed chin, I thought I could just bring the chin forward to cover the protruding mouth, so I proceeded with chin advancement surgery. While looking into recessed chin-related information, I learned about chin advancement surgery, and I chose Yang Yun-dol clinic. The surgical reviews were more detailed than I expected, so I scheduled a consultation at Yang Yun-dol clinic. When I arrived, I received a kind consultation and explanation from the consultant and saw various before/after photos. During the consultation with the director, he looked at my CT images from the front, diagonal, and side views, so after thinking it over, I decided to have surgery. The director told me about a two-stage osteotomy of around 12 mm, and I decided on surgery with a two-stage osteotomy and had the operation. My surgery was done under general anesthesia, and on the day of surgery my tonsils were swollen, so I was worried. I was concerned about the bronchial intubation for securing the airway, but fortunately the surgery finished well without any particular problems. I think the surgery took about 3 hours. They said a regular diet would be possible after surgery, but because I had bronchial intubation while my throat was swollen, my throat was more swollen than usual, so even swallowing water was difficult for 3 days. For about 2 weeks, I ate porridge and thin rice gruel, and 5 days later when they removed the band attached to my chin, the swelling was so severe that I was shocked enough to think the surgery had gone wrong. The swelling gradually went down as time passed. I barely felt any pain in my chin. For about 2-3 weeks I did cold compresses, and around week 4 I did warm compresses. The swelling went down a lot, so it no longer interfered with daily life. About a month has passed since surgery, and people around me often say I look more masculine. Originally, I had a round face shape, but now it has become an inverted-triangle face, so there has been a big change. Even as the swelling goes down, I can see the line to some extent, and I am really satisfied!
